  1. 21. Reading a glycocode - mechanism and function of galectin-glycan interactions

    Författare :Emma Salomonsson; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; galectin; specificity; affinity; multivalency; fluorescence anisotropy; glycan array; serum glycoproteins; anginex;

    Sammanfattning : There is an intensive interest in characterising the structure and function of galectins, which is not surprising given their many important cellular functions and strong implications in human disease. Understanding the mechanisms involved in galectin functions will help to find selective and novel strategies for disease treatment and diagnosis. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Production and delivery of recombinant subunit vaccines

    Författare :Christin Andersson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Affibody; Affinity chromatography; Affinity purification; DNA immunization; Expression plasmid; Fusion protein; Hydrophobic tag; Iscoms; Lipid tagging; Malaria; Mammalian cell expression; Recombinant immunogen; Respiratory Syncytial Virus; Semliki Fo;

    Sammanfattning : Recombinant strategies are today dominating in thedevelopment of modern subunit vaccines. This thesis describesstrategies for the production and recovery of protein subunitimmunogens, and how genetic design of the expression vectorscan be used to adapt the immunogens for incorporation intoadjuvant systems. 3. 23. Molecular Recognition in Antibody Engineering. Studies on recombinant and phage displayed antibodies

    Författare :Ann-Christin Malmborg Hager; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; affinity; antibody; kinetic; Immunologi; serologi; serology; Immunology; Bioteknik; Biotechnology; library; selection; surface display; phage display; association rate; dissociation rate;

    Sammanfattning : In vitro generation of antibody fragments of desired specificity and affinity plays an important role since it permits the generation of reagents which may be valuable for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Furthermore, the kinetic parameters for an antibody-antigen interaction, rather than the affinity, has shown to correlate with biological functions like virus neutralization. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Biomolecular interaction analysis to determine the kinetics and affinity between interacting partners is important for the fundamental understanding of biology, as well as for the development of new pharmaceutical substances. A quartz crystal microbalance instrument suitable for kinetics and affinity analyses of interaction events was developed. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Aspects of autoantibody epitopes in type 1 diabetes

    Författare :Hanna Skärstrand; Celiaki och diabetes; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Minor autoantigens Neuropeptide Y.; Affinity; ZnT8 autoantibodies; Autoimmune type 1 diabetes;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is strongly associated with autoantibodies against insulin (IAA), glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GADA), insulinoma-associated protein 2 (IA-2A) and the most recently identified zinc T8 transporter (ZnT8A). Together or alone, they are important both to predict T1D and to classify diabetes at the time of clinical onset. LÄS MER
