16. Promoting physical activity and lifestyle changes in primary health care. Interviews, randomised controlled trial and cohort studies examining lifestyle factors and venous thromboembolism
Sammanfattning : Background: Unhealthy lifestyle habits, low socioeconomic status, and low self-rated health (SRH) increase the risk of non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease. There are shared risk factors between arterial and venous thrombosis (VTE), and they predispose for one another. LÄS MER
17. Frequency Tracking for Speed Estimation
Sammanfattning : Estimating the frequency of a periodic signal, or tracking the time-varying frequency of an almost periodic signal, is an important problem that is well studied in literature. This thesis focuses on two subproblems where contributions can be made to the existing theory: frequency tracking methods and measurements containing outliers. LÄS MER
18. Nasals and Nasalisation in Speech Production with Special Emphasis on Methodology and Osaka Japanese
Sammanfattning : Nasal speech sounds occur in most of the languages of the world. Two goals concerning nasalisation in speech were pursued in the studies presented in this volume. LÄS MER
19. Physical capacity, physical activity and skeletal muscle in heart failure : studies of pathophysiology
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to provide a better understanding of the pathophysiology of heart failure (HF), especially to explore possible mechanistic links between the failing heart and the periphery, as well as to explore variables with possible prognostic utilisation. In Study I we asked if the degree of variability in physical activity (PA) could hold prognostic value. LÄS MER
20. Assessment of health-enhancing physical activity at population level
Sammanfattning : To assess the levels and patterns of health-enhancing physical activity in the population there is a real need for better instruments to be developed. The overall aims of this thesis were to test the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) and to study the level of health-enhancing physical activity in the Swedish adult population using both the IPAQ (a subjective method) and accelerometry (an objective method).
