32. Thiol-Ene CHemistry and Dopa-Functional Materials towards Biomedical Applications
Sammanfattning : Thiol-ene chemistry is versatile and efficient and can be used as a powerful tool in polymer synthesis. In this thesis, the concept of thiol-ene chemistry has been central, where it has been explored as a tool for the synthesis of well-defined hydrogels and dopa-functional materials towards biomedical applications; such as hydrogels, primers for adhesive fixation of bone fractures, self-healing gels, and micelles for drug-delivery. 33. Enhancing UV protection of clear coated exterior wood by reactive UV absorber and epoxy functional vegetable oil
Sammanfattning : Since ancient times wood has played a large role in human activities, both in terms of fuel and for construction purposes. A drawback with wood in exterior applications is, however, its susceptibility to photo-initiated degradation, caused by radiation from the sun. LÄS MER
34. Enhancing UV-protection of clear coated wood by utilizing reactive UV-absorber and epoxyfunctionalized soybean oil
Sammanfattning : This work presents the development of a new pretreatment for clear coated wood, that aims to increase the photoprotection of exterior wood products, and at the same time make the system more environmentally friendly. The pretreatment comprises the reactive UV absorber 2-hydroxy-4(2,3-epoxypropoxy)-benzophenone (HEPBP), which has a primary epoxy group that can be covalently attached to the hydroxyl groups of the wood substrate. 35. Exploring Amphiphilic PEGMA-Based Architectures as Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery
Sammanfattning : Within the last decades, the stated potential of polymer constructs as drug delivery systems have challenged researchers to develop sophisticated polymers with tunable properties. The versatility of polymers makes them highly attractive to tailor nanoparticles (NPs) which fulfill the demands of effective drug delivery systems (DDS). LÄS MER
