1. Thiol-ene and Thiol-ene-epoxy Based Polymers for Biomedical Microdevices
Sammanfattning : Within healthcare there is a market pull for biomedical devices that can rapidly perform laboratory processes, such as diagnostic testing, in a hand-held format. For this reason, biomedical devices must become smaller, more sophisticated, and easier to use for a reasonable cost. LÄS MER
2. Thiol-Ene CHemistry and Dopa-Functional Materials towards Biomedical Applications
Sammanfattning : Thiol-ene chemistry is versatile and efficient and can be used as a powerful tool in polymer synthesis. In this thesis, the concept of thiol-ene chemistry has been central, where it has been explored as a tool for the synthesis of well-defined hydrogels and dopa-functional materials towards biomedical applications; such as hydrogels, primers for adhesive fixation of bone fractures, self-healing gels, and micelles for drug-delivery. 3. Lignin-Based Thermosets with Tunable Mechanical and Morphological Properties : A Study of Structure-Property Relationships
Sammanfattning : Nowadays, there is an urgent need to decrease our dependence on fossilresources and shift towards the use of renewable resources for advancingsustainable development. Utilizing renewable and bio-based raw materials, such as lignocellulosic biomass, for designing new materials is a promisingapproach to promote this objective. LÄS MER
4. Dendrimers : Synthesis, Characterization and Use in Thiol-Ene Networks
Sammanfattning : Dendrimers are perfectly branched, well-defined macromolecules with a layered structure and a large amount of peripheral end groups. The high functionality in combination with the possibility of dendrimers to adopt a globular shape at high molecular weights, gives them very unique properties. LÄS MER
5. Thiol-Ene/Yne Adhesives for Tissue Fixation
Sammanfattning : The utilization of adhesives in surgery has not reached its full potential and research in the field is encouraged by the surgeons’ desire for improved alternatives to today’s tissue fixation strategies. Here, adhesive resins based on thiol-ene coupling (TEC) chemistry or thiol-yne coupling (TYC) chemistry are exploited to develop tissue adhesives that cure fast and on-demand via photoinitiation.
