1. Model catalysts studied by x-rays, visible and infrared light
Sammanfattning : This work is focused on the study of transition metal model catalysts for gas-phase heterogeneous catalysis, studied with light-based in-situ and operando techniques.Metallic model catalysts, such as Palladium (Pd) and Iridium (Ir) single crystals and in minor part deposited Rhodium (Rh), were studied using a combination of x-ray and non x-ray techniques. 2. 1D to 3D Magnetism in Quantum Materials: A study by Muons, Neutrons & X-rays
Sammanfattning : A collection of works stretching from low- to three-dimensional magnetism are presented, studied mostly through muon spin rotation, relaxation and resonance (µ +SR). The theoretical background of this technique is outlined in Chapter 2, which introduces the subject from the muon particle as an astro[1]nomical particle to how they are produced here on Earth. 3. Progression of periodontitis and influence of periodontal bacteria on release of inflammatory markers in Swedish adults
Sammanfattning : Periodontitis is a common infectious disease worldwide. An estimated 15-35% of the adult population in industrialized countries suffers from this multifactorial disease. The percentage of people affected by periodontal disease increases with age, reaching a peak at the age of 5060 years. LÄS MER
4. Development and Applications of a Laser-Wakefield X-ray Source
Sammanfattning : In laser-wakefield acceleration (LWFA), a femtosecond laser pulse is tightly focused in a gas to intensities exceeding 1018 W/cm2 . The laser radiation ionizes the medium and excites a plasma wave that travels behind the laser pulse. LÄS MER
5. Flourescence properties of trendy molecules studied with synchrotron radiation
Sammanfattning : This thesis summarises the experimental results on molecular spectroscopy of gas phase molecules using synchrotron radiation in the UV- VUV and soft-X rays regions. The results of applying Photon Induced Fluorescence Spectroscopy (PIFS) to D2, H2S, H2O and pyrimidine are presented and discussed. LÄS MER
