  1. 1. Sammanhangets mening : En empirisk studie av livsåskådningar i föreställningar om genteknik och i berättelser om barnlöshet, assisterad befruktning och adoption

    Författare :Katarina Westerlund; Carl Reinhold Bråkenhielm; Susanne Lundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Faiths and ideologies; view of life; life-philosophy; world-view; context; meaning in life; genetics; gene technology; childlessness; in-vitro-fertilisation; adoption; Tros- och livsåskådningsvetenskap; Faith and reason; Tros- och livsåskådningsvetenskap; tros- och livsåskådningsvetenskap; Studies In Faiths and Ideologies;

    Sammanfattning : This present thesis explores the meaning of contexts for views of life. The first aim of the investigation is to describe the existential meaningful content of views of life in perceptions of gene technology and in narratives about childlessness, assisted conception and adoption, as they are articulated in two separate sets of interviews. 2. 2. The Histidine-rich Glycoprotein in Reproduction

    Författare :Karin E Lindgren; Inger Sundström-Poromaa; Helena Åkerud; Eva Wiberg-Itzel; Lalit Kumar Parameswaran Grace; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; embryo culture medium; embryogenesis; embryonic secretome; endometrium; histidine-rich glycoprotein; human embryo development; human embryo implantation; human endometrial endothelial cells; in vitro fertilisation; infertility; male infertility; proximity extension assay; recurrent miscarriage; single nucleotide polymorphism; sperm quality; time-lapse technique; vascular endothelial growth factor;

    Sammanfattning : Infertility affects 15% of reproductive-aged couples. The milieu surrounding the growing embryo is of outmost importance, and should be optimised during in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Many biological processes, such as angiogenesis, coagulation, and immune processes need to be well regulated for a pregnancy to occur and progress normally. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Aspects on immune and endocrine mechanisms

    Författare :Anders Enskog; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; controlled ovarian hyperstimulation; cytokine; inhibin; interleukin-10; in vitro fertilisation; ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome; nitric oxide; vascular endothelial growth factor;

    Sammanfattning : The ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a well-known side effect of ovarian stimulation for ovulation induction or for in vitro fertilisation. The syndrome is characterised by massively enlarged ovaries and a hyperpermeable/procoagulant state, giving rise to diverse symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, ascites, hypovolemia and thromboembolism. 4. 4. Studies on in vitro fertilised human preembryos. Morphological and chromosomal aspects

    Författare :Thorir Hardarson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :IVF; oocyte; embryo; blastocyst; human; FISH; aneuploidy;

    Sammanfattning : The success rate of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) has gradually increased due to basic research in preembryonic biology and the introduction of new methods, both technical and medical. However, further research is needed to establish which preembryos are developmentally most competent in order to be able to maintain the pregnancy rate while only a single preembryo is being transferred. 5. 5. Genetic studies in early embryos with emphasis on preimplantation genetic diagnosis

    Författare :Erik Iwarsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :chromosomal abnormality 1 embryo fluorescent in situ hybridisation FISH 1 in vitro fertilisation IVF 1 preimplantation genetic diagnosis PGD ;

    Sammanfattning : It has been estimated that as much as 70-80% of all human conceptions do not develop to term. A majority of clinically recognisable pregnancies, which are miscarried, contain chromosome abnormalities. However, data from very early embryo development are difficult to obtain. LÄS MER
