1. Operando Characterisation of Lithium–Sulfur Batteries
Sammanfattning : Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries have been under the spotlight of research on electrochemical energy storage systems, primarily owing to their high theoretical specific energy (2552 Wh kg-1). So far, Li–S cells on the market have presented a specific energy of 400 Wh kg-1, which is superior to many commercial alternatives, but far below the theoretical value. LÄS MER
2. Combining Electrochemistry and Photoelectron Spectroscopy for the Study of Li-ion Batteries
Sammanfattning : In this thesis photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) is combined with electrochemistry to investigate the electrochemical processes that occur at the electrode/electrolyte interfaces in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). LIB systems are studied by the use of both ex situ PES, where electrodes are electrochemically pre-cycled and subsequently measured by PES, and operando PES, where electrodes are cycled during PES measurements. 3. Operando X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy Studies of Methane Oxidation Catalysts
Sammanfattning : Operando spectroscopy is an experimental method in catalysis that combines measurements of catalytic activity and selectivity with simultaneous in situ spectroscopic characterization of the catalyst. Since the structure and composition of the catalyst are probed under reaction conditions, the method can provide valuable information to elucidate the mechanism of the studied reaction. LÄS MER
4. Model catalysts studied by x-rays, visible and infrared light
Sammanfattning : This work is focused on the study of transition metal model catalysts for gas-phase heterogeneous catalysis, studied with light-based in-situ and operando techniques.Metallic model catalysts, such as Palladium (Pd) and Iridium (Ir) single crystals and in minor part deposited Rhodium (Rh), were studied using a combination of x-ray and non x-ray techniques. 5. The life and death of perovskites : Interfacial function and degradation of lead halide perovskites studied by photoelectron spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : Lead halide perovskite solar cells are a promising new technology which could soon see widespread commercial application but is partly held back by poor long-term stability. In this thesis, photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) is used to study the dynamical processes at the surface or interfaces of lead halide perovskite materials. LÄS MER
