  1. 1. Rhine cities - urban flood integration (UFI) : German and Dutch adaptation and mitigation strategies

    Författare :Cornelia Redeker; V.J. Meyer; Netherlands Delft Department of Urbanism Faculty of Architecture and The Built Environment Delft University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Flood management; Rhine; Germany; Netherlands; Urban Flood Integration; climate change; klimatförändringar; sustainability; hållbarhet; design; design;

    Sammanfattning : Flood Risk Management along the Rhine today combines river expanding measures and adaptive strategies with the existing defensive system to cope with the risk increase as a consequence of previous interventions and developments and fluctuations in water levels due to climate change. Differences in landscapes and urgencies and differences in planning cultures between the Upper and Lower Rhine and the Delta have also led to different strategic approaches. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Bridging the floods - The role of social learning for resilience building in urban water services

    Författare :Åse Johannessen; Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; urban water services; climate change; adaptation; urban transformation; transition; flood risk management; water resources management; disaster risk reduction; resilience; resilient cities;

    Sammanfattning : The development of cities is increasingly threatened by a worldwide water crisis. Urban water services (including drinking water, sanitation and drainage) are facing complex and multiple pressures, which are becoming increasingly frequent and severe. LÄS MER

  3. 3. People, Climate, and Inclusive Infrastructure : A thesis on design and planning in underserved neighbourhoods

    Författare :Joseph Mulligan; Mattias Höjer; David Nilsson; Edgar Pieterse; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the processes of design and planning of infrastructure in rapidly urbanising cities that can lead to a more just and sustainable trajectory of urban development in the context of a changing climate. The thesis draws on case studies, panel surveys, interviews, and participant-observation of both top-down and bottom-up planning processes for infrastructure development and flood risk management in the context of urban informal areas, with a particular focus on the large informal neighbourhood of Kibera in central Nairobi, Kenya. 4. 4. Overcoming inertia to sustainable stormwater management practice

    Författare :Annicka Cettner; Sarah Bell; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : In Sweden, there is a growing receptivity for change to more sustainable stormwater practices using green infrastructure approaches. Unlike piped drainage systems they can have multiple benefits in use including flood control, pollutant removal and can add to the quality of urban space supporting green infrastructure through irrigation and providing cooling and an additional water source for supply.
