    Sammanfattning : This work presents the development of a new pretreatment for clear coated wood, that aims to increase the photoprotection of exterior wood products, and at the same time make the system more environmentally friendly. The pretreatment comprises the reactive UV absorber 2-hydroxy-4(2,3-epoxy­propoxy)-benzophenone (HEPBP), which has a primary epoxy group that can be covalently attached to the hydroxyl groups of the wood substrate.     Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the adaptive strategies of daphnids that allows them to maintain stable populations while deal with UV radiation, highlighting the differences in the responses that populations with different evolutionary histories may have.Although exposition to lethal doses in nature is unlikely, sub-lethal UV-B radiation doses may have strong impacts on zooplankton.     Sammanfattning : Plant responses to solar ultraviolet radiation (UV, 280-400 nm) were assessed at different molecular levels using Betula pendula Roth (silver birch) and Arabidopsis thaliana (Arabidopsis) as model species in outdoor experiments to assess the possibly interacting roles of the UV-B and UV-A wavebands in acclimation to sunlight. Solar UV-B (280-315 nm) and UV-A (315-400 nm) irradiance was attenuated with plastic films. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Thiol-ene chemistry is versatile and efficient and can be used as a powerful tool in polymer synthesis. In this thesis, the concept of thiol-ene chemistry has been central, where it has been explored as a tool for the synthesis of well-defined hydrogels and dopa-functional materials towards biomedical applications; such as hydrogels, primers for adhesive fixation of bone fractures, self-healing gels, and micelles for drug-delivery.
