21. Oxidative damage and the DNA glycosylase MutYH
Sammanfattning : The DNA glycosylase MutYH is highly conserved throughout evolution, and homologs are found in most eukaryotes and prokaryotes examined. MutYH functions as a base excision repair DNA glycosylase that excises adenines misincorporated opposite 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2′-deoxyguanosine (8-oxodG), one of the most stable products of oxidative DNA damage. 22. Luminescent textiles using biobased products : A bioinspired approach
Sammanfattning : Nature has designed a few biobased molecules that are responsible for bioluminescence and photoluminescence in some living species. In this thesis, the potential use of luminescence phenomena existing in nature toward the attainment of luminescent textiles was explored. LÄS MER
23. Photon stimulated CVD of amorphous carbon thin films : By Mikael Lindstram
Sammanfattning : Amorphous carbon has attracted much interest for several decades now because of its complex crystal structure and microstructure. Depending on the carbon sp2/sp3 bonding ratio, these materials yield a broad spectrum of useful properties; which can be tailored for specific applications. LÄS MER
24. Multifunctional biomimetic materials for corneal regeneration
Sammanfattning : The cornea is the outermost layer of the eye, which is responsible for transmitting 95% of the incident light to the retina for vision and provides 70% of the focusing power of the eye. Corneal disease is a primary cause of blindness worldwide. LÄS MER
25. Organic Heavy Group 14 Element Compounds : A Study of Their Chemical Bonding Properties Directed Towards Applications as Molecular Wires and in Synthesis
Sammanfattning : The research described herein includes synthesis, spectroscopy, and quantum chemical calculations with focus on the characteristic properties of compounds with bonds between carbon and the heavier Group 14 elements. The chapters based on the first four papers concern σ- and σ/π-conjugated compounds, although the focus of the first paper is on ring strain of bicyclo[1.
