16. Fish foraging under visual constraints
Sammanfattning : Visual conditions are changing in several different ways. Some lakes are getting turbid due to eutrophication or erosion while others are getting browner due to brownification. These two types of visual degradation results in completely different optical properties of lakes. LÄS MER
17. The prey perspective - behaviour and appearance in a world of predators
Sammanfattning : The varieties of prey phenotypes that have been revealed in nature are vast and many of these phenotypes are the result of the selective force that predators have had on prey traits in the past. Even within species and populations we see variations due to both differences in the selection forces they live under but also due to individual trait variation. LÄS MER
18. Pheomelanin markers in melanoma with reference to their excretion into urine
Sammanfattning : Skin pigmentation is an important issue in most cultures. Until recently we have not understood the most important elements of pigmentation regarding detailed chemical structure. LÄS MER
19. The role of chromatin in the induction and repair of DNA damage
Sammanfattning : The role of chromatin in the induction and repair of DNA damage has a dual nature. The constituent proteins of chromatin protect the DNA against the induction of DNAdamage, while at the same time they reduce the accessibility of DNA to repair enzymes. LÄS MER
20. Characterization of stress-inducible short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) in plants : study of a novel small protein family from Pisum sativum (pea)
Sammanfattning : In pea (Pisum sativum), the short-chain alcohol dehydrogenase-like protein (SAD) gene family consists of at least three members (SAD-A, -B, and -C). The SAD genes are transiently expressed in plants after short exposures to ultraviolet-B radiation, which in turn leads to formation of SAD protein in leaf and stem tissue upon prolonged irradiation.
