16. Computational Studies of Transition Metal-Catalyzed Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation Reactions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on two studies dealing with the computational investigation of asymmetric transfer hydrogenation reactions, in which hydrogen is transferred from a donor molecule (e.g. alcohol) to a substrate (ketone), via mediation of a metal-ligand catalyst complex. LÄS MER
17. Synthesis and asymmetric transformations of diols by enzyme- and ruthenium catalysis
Sammanfattning : The major part of this thesis describes the synthesis of aliphatic secondary diols and the development of lipase- and ruthenium-catalyzed asymmetric transformations of these diols. Several acyclic 1,4-diols and 1,5-diols were synthesized, and by combining a lipase-catalyzed asymmetric transformation with a ruthenium-catalyzed epimerization, enantiomerically- and diastereomerically enriched diacetates were obtained. 18. Asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of aromatic ketones and azirines with NH-ligands
Sammanfattning : The Ru(arene)[(1S, 3R, 4R)-3-(Hydroxymethyl)-2-azabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane catalyst was optimized as ligand in the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones and resulted in increased activity and enantioselectivity of the catalyst. LÄS MER
19. Fluid dynamics and mass transfer in bubble columns with and without packing
Sammanfattning : Bubble columns are used in the chemical industry to perform gas liquid reactions, like oxidation, hydrogenation and fermentation. The objective of the present thesis was mainly to study the fluid dynamics of semi batch packed bubble columns at both atmospheric and pressurized conditions. LÄS MER
20. N-Heterocyclic Carbene-Phosphine Iridium Catalyzed Alkylation Reactions and Asymmetric Hydrogenation of Ketones
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on hydrogen transfer reactions using N-heterocyclic carbenephosphine iridium catalysts and is divided in two parts. The first part describes the use of achiral N-heterocyclic carbene-phosphine iridium complexes catalyzing the methylation of ketones and alkylation of amides using alcohols as the electrophile.
