    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the synthesis and application of new chiral bicyclic ligands and their application in asymmetric catalysis. The studies involved: [i] The development of novel chiral bicyclic amino sulfur ligands and their use in transfer hydrogenation. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones : Catalyst development and mechanistic investigation

    Författare :Katrin Ahlford; Hans Adolfsson; Martin Wills; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Asymmetric catalysis; reduction; amino acid; rhodium; mechanistic investigation; kinetic study; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The development of ligands derived from natural amino acids for asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of prochiral ketones is described herein. In the first part, reductions performed in alcoholic media are examined, where it is found that amino acid-derived hydroxamic acids and thioamides, respectively, are simple and versatile ligands that in combination with [RhCp*Cl2]2 efficiently catalyze this particular transformation. 3. 8. Ruthenium-Catalyzed Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation

    Författare :Tove Slagbrand; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; allylic alcohols; asymmetric catalysis; isomerization; reduction; ruthenium;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis covers the development of two new methods for the asymmetric reduction of ketones and ketone intermediates. The protocols developed are based on the use of a ruthenium pseudo-dipeptide catalyst that previously has been shown to be efficient and selective in the asymmetric reduction of carbonyl compounds.     Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Kinetic isotope effect; linear free energy relationship; elimination; substitution; aziridination; transfer hydrogenation; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the use of kinetic isotope effects, linear free energy relationships and stereochamical studies to distinguish between different mechanistic alternatives and to obtain information about transition state structure.In the first part fluorine and deuterium kinetic isotope effects were determined for the base promoted HF elimination from 4-fluoro-4-(4’-nitrophenyl)butane-2-on. 5. 10. New Methods for the Synthesis of Vicinal Stereocenters : Palladium-Catalyzed Domino Reactions and Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation

    Författare :Brinton Seashore-Ludlow; Somfai Peter; Kevin Booker-Milburn; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; asymmetric synthesis; domino reactions; palladium-catalyzed reactions; oxindoles; amino alcohols;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the synthesis of vicinal stereocenters is investigated in two distinct contexts, namely the construction of 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles and the synthesis of b-hydroxy-a-amino acids. Both scaffolds are prevalent in a range of natural products and biologically relevant compounds and, therefore, methods for their synthesis are of great import. LÄS MER
