  1. 1. Landfill mining approach for resource recovery from glass dumps into the circular economy

    Författare :Richard Mutafela; William Hogland; Lennart Mårtensson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Resource recovery; landfill mining; hazardous waste; hydrometallurgical extraction; geophysical mapping; circular economy; Återvinning av resurser; gruvdrift; farligt avfall; hydrometallurgisk utvinning; geofysisk kartläggning; cirkulär ekonomi; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science;

    Sammanfattning : Landfills and open dumps have been the most cost-effective waste disposal option, resulting in over 500,000 landfills and dumps in the EU alone. They pose significant environmental and health threats due to emission of toxic gases and release of persistent contaminants to soil and groundwater, triggering a considerable global economic impact annually. 2. 2. Nature conservation, landscape change and indigenous rights : The role of Sámi reindeer herding for environmental objectives in the Swedish mountain landscape

    Författare :Carl Österlin; Ingrid Stjernquist; Peter Schlyter; Camilla Eriksson; Urban Emanuelsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Land use planning; Cumulative Effects; Reindeer herding; Natural resource extraction; Environmental Management; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The 14th Swedish national environmental objective, ‘a Magnificent Mountain Landscape’, requires a mountain landscape characterized by reindeer grazing. The Swedish mountains landscape, part of the Scandes, has been shaped by traditional indigenous Sámi reindeer herding and its grazed environments are dependent on reindeer. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Climate Change: Models, Metrics and Meaning Making

    Författare :Erik Sterner; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate Science Literacy; Emission Metrics; Knowledge-Behavior Gap; Short-lived Climate Forcers; SF Failure; Integral Theory; Carbon Cycle; Sea Level Rise; Common Pool Resources; Resource Extraction;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis, combining research in climate science and educational science, investigates different aspects of climate knowledge. It consists of five papers and covers three major topics: emission metrics, public understanding of atmospheric CO2 accumulation, and spatial modelling of natural resource use. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Characterisation of Fuels and Fly Ashes from Co-Combustion of Biofuels and Waste Fuels in a Fluidised Bed Boiler. A Phosphorus and Alkali Perspective

    Författare :Anita Pettersson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; phosphorus recovery; co-combustion; fluidised bed combustion; olivine; Biofuels; zeolites; fertiliser; extraction; refuse derived fuels; kaolin; alkali; sulphur; ash; municipal sewage sludge;

    Sammanfattning : In the efforts to create sustainable production of heat and power and to reduce the net CO2 emissions to the atmosphere, alternative fuels are today being utilised. These fuels are, for example, biofuels and waste derived fuels such as different residues from the agricultural sector and the pulp and paper industry, municipal sewage sludge and municipal sorted solid waste. 5. 5. Comparing Climate Forcers on a Common Scale

    Författare :Erik Sterner; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Spatial-temporal Optimization; Carbon Cycle; Greenhouse Gases; Short-lived Climate Forcers; Upwelling-Diffusion; Metric; Energy Balance; Sea Level Rise; Non-cooperative Nash Equilibrium; Resource Extraction;

    Sammanfattning : The climate is changing at a rapid pace. Through the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the world has agreed to hold the on-going temperature increase below 2 °C. Climate change is caused by emissions of different atmospheric species (climate forcers). LÄS MER
