16. Studies on sensitization and atopic disease in infants and children
Sammanfattning : Sensitization to food allergens dominated in infancy and IgE antibodies to inhalant allergens appeared later in a cross-sectional multicentre study of 224 children with atopic disease (113 children aged 0-3 years and 111 children aged 4-15 years). IgE antibodies to peanut, hazelnut, and almond were important in both age groups and even before known ingestion in infancy, suggesting sensitization through breast-milk. LÄS MER
17. Mass Spectrometry Strategies for Characterization of Contact Allergens and their Protein Conjugates in Vitro and in Vivo
Sammanfattning : Humans are daily exposed to chemicals from various sources, including cosmetics, jewelry, clothes, and hair dyes, which can result in the occurrence of contact allergy and subsequent allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), a type IV delayed hypersensitivity reaction. ACD is characterized by inflammation and eczema at the site of exposure, and no definitive cure for this condition has been identified to date, with only symptomatic treatment options involving corticosteroids being available. 19. Assessing eczema and food allergy in young children
Sammanfattning : Background: Atopic disease is an increasing problem. Eczema affects 10-20% of young children, and 33-37% of children with eczema are food allergic. Among other factors, nitric oxide (NO) is thought to play a role in eczema and food allergy. LÄS MER
20. New insights in contact allergy and drug delivery. A study of formulation effects and hapten targets in skin using two-photon fluorescence microscopy
Sammanfattning : The skin is a remarkable barrier, protecting us from invasion of e.g. harmful microorganisms and UV-radiation. However, the skin is not adopted to resist repeated exposure to the multitude of xenobiotics introduced into modern society. LÄS MER
