  1. 1. Submicrometre aerosol emissions from sea spray and road traffic

    Författare :Monica Mårtensson; Douglas Nilsson; Christer Johansson; Michael Smith; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Eddy covariance method; aerosol emissions; submicrometre sea salt parameterisation; primary marine organic aerosols; sea spray; road traffic emission factors; air-sea exchange; aerosol dynamics model; internal aerosol mixing; combustion aerosols; Atmosphere and hydrosphere sciences; Atmosfärs- och hydrosfärsvetenskap; atmosfärvetenskap; Atmospheric Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The uncertainty of the climate and health effects of aerosols is still large, one important reason being lack of knowledge of the primary emissions. This thesis combines laboratory and field experiments, and process modelling in an effort to better quantify the submicrometre aerosol emissions and to understand some of the processes in the atmosphere. 2. 2. Factors influencing emission fluxes and bacterial enrichment in sea spray aerosols : Insights from laboratory and field studies

    Författare :Julika Zinke; Matthew E. Salter; Paul Zieger; Rachel A. Foster; E. Douglas Nilsson; Patricia K. Quinn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sea spray aerosols; eddy covariance fluxes; air-sea-exchange; bacteria; primary biological airborne particles; laboratory studies; field studies; Baltic Sea; North-Eastern Atlantic; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Sea spray aerosol (SSA) is one of the major natural aerosol sources and is produced when wave breaking entrains air into ocean surface water, which subsequently breaks up into bubbles. These bubbles rise to the surface and can scavenge biogenic material. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Enrichment of biogenic and anthropogenic organic substances on sea spray aerosols

    Författare :Nikola Radoman; Ian Cousins; Matthew Salter; Jurgita Ovadnevaite; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sea spray; Organic carbon; Dissolved organic matter; Phytoplankton bloom; Cationic surfactants; Perfluorinated alkyl acids; LC-MS; HRMS; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The world’s oceans are the source of one of the most abundant types of natural aerosols, namely sea spray aerosols (SSA). By scattering solar radiation, SSA play a significant role in controlling the Earth’s radiation budget, while they are also involved in the formation of clouds, acting as cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). 4. 4. Bioaerosols and their importance for low-level Arctic clouds

    Författare :Gabriel Pereira Freitas; Paul Zieger; Radovan Krejci; Kevin J. Noone; Claudia Mohr; Martin Gallagher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioaerosols; Aerosols; Clouds; Arctic; Cloud Condensation Nuclei; Ice Nucleating Particles; Sea Spray Aerosol; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Bioaerosols are microorganisms or functional parts of them or other biological matter suspended in air. Examples are bacteria, viruses, pollen, spores, or smaller plant debris. In the atmosphere, bioaerosols can play various functional roles, such as facilitating the spread of genetic material. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Sources, transport and fate of perfluoroalkyl acids in the atmosphere

    Författare :Jana Johansson; Ian Cousins; Tom Harner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perfluorinated alkyl acids; PFOS; PFOA; Isomers; Sources; Atmospheric transport; Sea spray; Gas-particle partitioning; Volatilisation; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are man-made chemicals which have been observed in the global environment, even in locations far away from where they are emitted. These persistent substances are taken up in humans and biota and may have toxic effects. LÄS MER
