  1. 1. Factors influencing emission fluxes and bacterial enrichment in sea spray aerosols : Insights from laboratory and field studies

    Författare :Julika Zinke; Matthew E. Salter; Paul Zieger; Rachel A. Foster; E. Douglas Nilsson; Patricia K. Quinn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sea spray aerosols; eddy covariance fluxes; air-sea-exchange; bacteria; primary biological airborne particles; laboratory studies; field studies; Baltic Sea; North-Eastern Atlantic; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Sea spray aerosol (SSA) is one of the major natural aerosol sources and is produced when wave breaking entrains air into ocean surface water, which subsequently breaks up into bubbles. These bubbles rise to the surface and can scavenge biogenic material. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Quantification of population exposure and health impacts associated with air pollution

    Författare :David Segersson; Christer Johansson; Lars Gidhagen; Ranjeet S. Sokhi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; air pollution; health impact assessment; dispersion modelling; population exposure; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : There is substantial evidence that air pollution, in particular particulate matter (PM), affects our health. The overall objective of this thesis is to understand and quantify population exposure to ambient air pollution and related health impacts. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Analytical methods for biomolecules involved in atmospheric aerosol formation in the Arctic

    Författare :Farshid Mashayekhy Rad; Ulrika Nilsson; Caroline Leck; Leopold Ilag; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : In the Arctic, increasing ice-free conditions and nutrients freed from the melting ice must strongly influence the marine life. Aerosol emissions from microbiological marine processes may affect the low clouds and fogs over the summer Arctic, which in turn have effects on the melting of sea ice. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Arctic Atmospheric Rivers : Eulerian and Lagrangian features, and trends over the last 40 years

    Författare :Cheng You; Michael Tjernström; Abhay Devasthale; Heikki Järvinen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic; Atmospheric river; Stratocumulus; Blocking; Turbulence; Longwave irradiance; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : Arctic Atmospheric rivers, termed ‘warm-and-moist intrusion’ (WaMAI) in this thesis, transporting heat and moisture into the Arctic from lower latitudes, is a key contributor to the amplified warming in the Arctic under global change (Arctic Amplification). However, the warming effect of WaMAIs and its transformation along the trajectories into high Arctic still remain unclear, as well as their relation with the large-scale atmospheric circulation. 5. 5. Measuring and modelling variations in the distribution of atmospheric water vapour using GPS

    Författare :Tobias Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Global Positioning System GPS ; Microwave Radiometry; Water Vapour; Climate; Atmospheric Turbulence;

    Sammanfattning : Turbulence introduce variations in the refractive index of air, which in turn result in fluctuations in the phase and amplitude of radio signals propagating through the atmosphere. Most important are the variations due to fluctuations in the water vapour field. LÄS MER
