  1. 6. On the adsorption behaviour of saliva and purified salivary proteins at solid/liquid interfaces

    Författare :Liselott Lindh; Malmö högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; acidic proline-rich proteins; adsorption; BSM; diffusion; ellipsometry; interfaces; mass transport limitation; mucins; MUC5B; saliva; salivary proteins; statherin; surface properties;

    Sammanfattning : Den salivfilm som bildas genom selektiv proteinadsorption på ytor i munhålan har stor profylaktisk betydelse genom sin skyddande funktion och befrämjar därigenom oral hälsa. Några av de adsorberade komponenterna har smörjande funktion (t ex muciner, sura prolinrika proteiner (PRP) och statherin), som är viktig bl a för att förhindra slitage mellan tandytor vid tuggning och hos gnisslare. 2. 7. Saliva: a cell suspension of epithelial cells harboring the antimicrobial peptide LL-37 and the growth factor EGF

    Författare :Alexandra Aidoukovitch; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Saliva; Oral health; Innate immunity; Cathelicidin; LL-37; Host defense peptides; EGF; Saliva; Oral health; Innate immunity; Cathelicidin; LL-37; Host defence peptides; EGF;

    Sammanfattning : Saliva plays a crucial role in maintaining oral health through its physical and chemical properties that provide various protective functions. One of its essential components is the human host defense peptide LL-37, which is produced by immune cells and epithelial cells, and participates in the first line of defense against pathogens. 3. 8. Fluoride concentration in plaque and saliva and its effects on oral ecology after intake of fluoridated milk

    Författare :Kristina Engström; Svante Twetman; Lars G Petersson; Göran Dahllöf; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :children; enamel; demineralisation; fluoride; lactic acid; laser fluoroscense; milk; plaque; saliva; salivary bacteria; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : According to WHO, the addition of fluoride to milk could be considered as an alternative to water fluoridation for community-based caries prevention in childhood. School-based schemes in developing as well as industrial countries have demonstrated substantial benefits on oral health, but there are limited data available on the local events in the oral cavity after consumption of fluoridated milk. 4. 9. TRANSMISSION AND PATHOGENESIS OF HANTAVIRUS

    Författare :Lisa Pettersson; Magnus Evander; Clas Ahlm; Annika Allard; Tatjana Avšič - Županc; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Puumala virus; Hantavirus; human-to-human transmission; saliva; nephropathia epidemica; NE; IgA; IgG; IgM; neutrophils; neutrophil; viremia; treatment; climate; snow cover; temperature.; medicinsk virologi; Medical Virology;

    Sammanfattning : Hantaviruses are the causative agents of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in Eurasia, and of hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS) in the Americas. Transmission to humans usually occurs by inhalation of aerosolized virus-contaminated rodent excreta. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Xylitol and its effect on oral ecology : clinical studies in children and adolescents

    Författare :Pernilla Lif Holgerson; Svante Twetman; Christina Stecksén-Blicks; Eva Söderling; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chewing gum; dental plaque; dose-response relationship; interdental plaque-pH; oral microorganisms; saliva; xylitol; Paedodontics; Pedodonti;

    Sammanfattning : Xylitol, classified as a natural sugar substitute, has for about 35 years been known as an agent that may act against caries. The mechanism of action; how it inhibits mutans streptococci (MS) and the clinical dose-response relationship are not however fully investigated. LÄS MER
