11. Electroosmosis Based Treatment Approach for Cerebral Edema
Sammanfattning : Cerebral edema characterized as an abnormal accumulation of excess fluid in the intracellular or extracellular spaces has not been treated effectively despite aggressive treatments. As a result, cerebral edema often leads to intracranial pressure (ICP) elevation with potentially severe consequences unless treated effectively. LÄS MER
12. Scale and Stress Effects on Hydro-Mechanical Properties of Fractured Rock Masses
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, the effects of size and stress on permeability, deformability and strength of fractured rock masses are investigated. A comparison study was carried out to examine the effects of considering, or not considering, the correlation between distributions of fracture apertures and fracture trace lengths on the hydro-mechanical behavior of fractured rocks. 13. Meso-Mechanical Modeling of Thin Adhesive Layers
Sammanfattning : A thin adhesive layer is analyzed using a representative volume element (RVE). The RVE is comprised by, both continuum and interfacial finite elements. The interface elements allow for crack initiation and crack propagation. To obtain realistic results from the RVE simulation, an in situ scanning electron microscopy (SEM) study is performed. LÄS MER
14. Multi-scale analysis of mechanical phenomena in NCF composites
Sammanfattning : Mechanical phenomenon in Non Crimp Composites is studied in this thesis using a multiscale approach. This approach is choosen due to the architecture of the composite which is heterogenic both on micro as well as mesoscale. LÄS MER
15. Micromechanical modeling using computational homogenization
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses micromechanical modeling of materials using computational homogenization. On this topic, theoretical and computational issues are discussed, and numerical investigations of different material systems are performed. LÄS MER
