21. Biodiversity and Species Extinctions in Model Food Webs
Sammanfattning : Many of the earth’s ecosystems are experiencing large species losses due to human impacts such as habitat destruction and fragmentation, climate change, species invasions, pollution, and overfishing. Due to the complex interactions between species in food webs the extinction of one species could lead to a cascade of further extinctions and hence cause dramatic changes in species composition and ecosystem processes. 22. MUSCLE TONE IMBALANCE IN HUMAN UPPER EXTREMITY An experimental study of muscle adaptation to altered tension
Sammanfattning : Aim: The aim of this thesis was to improve outcome after tendon transfer and rotator cuff surgery by investigating the impact on response to passive mechanical testing and change in structural characteristics associated with longstanding changes in the tension of skeletal muscle in the human upper extremities in vivo. Patients and methods: The investigational method was in vitro assessment of human upper extremity muscles. LÄS MER
23. Modeling of Inelastic Response of Metals with Emphasis on Cyclic Viscoplasticity
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the continuum modeling of the macroscopic behavior of engineering metals, in particular as part of life prediction strategies. Focus is primarily placed on the formulation and numerics of models for cyclic rate-dependent response. LÄS MER
24. Involvement of Homologous Recombination in Response to Different Qualities of DNA Damage
Sammanfattning : The present studies aimed at elucidate the role of homologous recombination (HR) for the repair of different qualities of DNA damages and/or changes in chromatin structure induced by a variety of radiation qualities.Radiation qualities used to expose cells in culture ranged from non-ionizing radiation with extremely low frequency (ELF), of energies too low to disrupt chemical or molecular bonds, to radiation qualities with energies able to induce ionizations and break chemical bonds. 25. Myocardial electromechanical function in long QT syndrome
Sammanfattning : AIM: The aim of this thesis is to assess, in LQTS and according to genotype, the myocardial electromechanical (EM) function response to exercise, its relation to symptoms and its response to b-blocker therapy. To achieve this aim, we conducted 4 studies with the following specific objectives: i. LÄS MER
