16. HMBG1 as a proinflammatory mediator in arthritis
Sammanfattning : Proinflammatory cytokines are central in the pathogenesis of chronic arthritis and a new generation of therapeutics blocking TNF or IL-1 has improved outcome for many patients with inflammatory joint diseases. This thesis addresses the role of HMGB1 (High Mobility Group Box Chromosomal protein 1) in inflammation and as a potential novel therapeutic target molecule in arthritis. LÄS MER
17. Developing Multimodal Spoken Dialogue Systems : Empirical Studies of Spoken Human–Computer Interaction

The dialogue systems have been multimodal, giving information both verbally with animated talking characters and graphically on maps and in text tables. LÄS MER
18. Dialysis initiation and clinical outcomes in chronic kidney disease : role of education and biomarkers
Sammanfattning : For patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) who develop kidney failure, renal replacement therapy (RRT) with kidney transplantation is the best treatment option. But if this is not possible due to lack of organs or medical factors, dialysis initiation with haemodialysis (HD) or peritoneal dialysis (PD) is required. LÄS MER
19. Floating-Point Analog-to-Digital Converter
Sammanfattning : To deal with the wide dynamic rage necessary for a radio receiver or corresponding applications, but to avoid impractically high resolution at high data rates, the approach of using a floating-point analog-to-digital converter (FP-ADC) has been investigated. This approach de-links the dynamic range with the resolution, and a very wide dynamic range can be achieved by an ADC with a moderate resolution. LÄS MER
