11. Effect of the quinoline-3-carboxamide ABR-215757 during inflammation
Sammanfattning : ABR-215757 (5757) is a quinoline-3-carboxamide (Q-compound) currently in clinical development for systemic sclerosis. Q-compounds have shown efficacy in several different models of autoimmune diseases such as experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and collagen induced arthritis. However, the mechanism of action is still poorly understood. LÄS MER
12. Psoriasin For Better or for Worse in Sickness and in Health : The Role of Psoriasin in Angiogenesis and Differentation of Epithelial Cells
Sammanfattning : Psoriasin (S100A7), a member of the S100 family of calcium-binding proteins, is highly expressed in high-grade ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and in the benign hyper-proliferative skin disorder psoriasis. Both breast cancer and psoriasis are diseases which are characterized by hyperproliferation and a disturbed differentiation of the epithelial cells as well as a pronounced angiogenesis. LÄS MER
13. Dual cytokine inducing properties of HMGB1
Sammanfattning : High mobility group box protein 1 (HMGB1) is a nuclear protein that can be released either passively by necrotic cells or actively by stimulated cells. Extracellular HMGB1 is a potent inducer of inflammation and the importance of HMGB1 as a mediator in a number of inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, sepsis and ischemia‐reperfusion injury, has been demonstrated by successfully targeting the protein in preclinical models. 14. Macrophages : as central inflammatory mediators and as targets for therapeutic interventions
Sammanfattning : Macrophages (Mphis) are important cellular players in autoimmune pathogenesis, being the most numerous cells infiltrating sites of inflammation and causing much of the associated tissue damage. Apart from these proinflammatory actions, Mphis also have distinct roles in disease resolution, and effective therapeutic targeting of Mphi-expressed molecules requires understanding of the interplay between different Mphi activators and the kinetics of the induced responses. 15. S100A9 in inflammation
Sammanfattning : S100A9 is a small (13 kD) cytosolic calcium-binding protein. The protein is mainly expressed in neutrophils and monocytes in human but can also be expressed in other cell types under inflammatory conditions. S100A9 is normally co-expressed with S100A8 and forms S100A8/S100A9 heterodimers. LÄS MER
