11. Geographical Information Technologies – Decision Support for Road Maintenance in Uganda
Sammanfattning : This study set out to develop a framework within which the use of Geographical Information Technologies (GITs) can be enhanced in Road Infrastructure Maintenance (RIM) in Uganda. Specifically it was guided by 3 objectives; 1. To assess the gaps in the use of GITs for RIM in Uganda and the limitations to accessing these technologies, 2. LÄS MER
12. Predicting Pedestrian Behavior in Urban Traffic Scenarios Using Deep Learning Methods
Sammanfattning : Background: The statistics on global road safety show a great demand for reducing the fatalities caused by pedestrian-vehicle collisions. By utilizing artificial intelligence such as deep learning, human drivers can be supported by better driver assistance systems, and thereby the fatalities caused by human errors can be reduced. 14. Assisted Tele-Remote Control of Wheel Loaders in Underground Mining
Sammanfattning : Tele-remote operation of mobile earth-moving machines in underground mines supported byoperator assistance functions is attractive for safety and productivity reasons. This way, operatorscan avoid hazardous underground environments with poor air quality and the productivitycan, in principle, be improved by saving the time required to commute drivers to and fromthe operational areas. 15. Orientation and motion in the world’s languages : From field studies to cross-linguistic comparison
Sammanfattning : Human life frequently involves spatial orientation and motion, and natural languages express manifold aspects of spatial perception in diverse ways. The articles included in this thesis delve into several of these aspects and explore space and motion from multiple perspectives, ranging from a dedicated field study of within-language variation systems to cross-linguistic comparisons of various orientation and motion aspects.
