  1. 1. Safe Transitions to Manual Driving From Faulty Automated Driving System

    Författare :Josef Nilsson; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Driver takeover; functional safety; automated driving; safety; vehicle automation; driver capability; brake failure; controllability; driving simulator.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a method to assess the safety of transitions from automated to manual driving when vehicle automation fails. The method is based on contributions to the understanding of human driving behavior, also presented in this thesis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Safety of Cooperative Automated Driving : Analysis and Optimization

    Författare :Galina Sidorenko; Alexey Vinel; Johan Thunberg; Elisabeth Uhlemann; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; platooning; Cooperative Intelligent Transportation System C-ITS ; Vehicle-to-Vehicle V2V communication; emergency braking; road safety; ITS-G5; IEEE 802.11p; automated driving;

    Sammanfattning : New cooperative intelligent transportation system (C-ITS) applications become enabled thanks to advances in communication technologies between vehicles(V2V) and with the infrastructure (V2I). Communicating vehicles share information with each other and cooperate, which results in improved safety, fuel economy, and traffic efficiency. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The driver response process in assisted and automated driving

    Författare :Linda Pipkorn; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; automation safety; take-over request; driver behavior; response process; automated driving; driving performance;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Safe assisted and automated driving can be achieved through a detailed understanding of the driver response process (the timing and quality of driver actions and visual behavior) triggered by an event such as a take-over request or a safety-relevant event. Importantly, most current evidence on driver response process in vehicle automation, and on automation effects (unsafe response process) is based on driving-simulator studies, whose results may not generalize to the real world. 4. 4. Teleoperation and the influence of driving feedback on drivers’ behaviour and experience

    Författare :Lin Zhao; Mikael Nybacka; Pernilla Ulfvengren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teleoperation; driving behaviour; driving feedback; driving performance; driving experience; motion cueing feedback; steering force feedback; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Automated vehicles (AVs) have been developing at a rapid pace over the past few years. However, many difficulties still remain for achieving full Level-5 AVs. This signifies that AVs still require human operators to intervene or assist, such as taking over control of AVs or selecting their routes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Architecting Safe Automated Driving with Legacy Platforms

    Författare :Naveen Mohan; Martin Törngren; Jakob Axelsson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; architectures; automated driving; autonomous vehicles; methods; processes; tools; functional safety; ISO 26262; diagnostic specifications; platform based design; legacy integration; functional safety concept; preliminary architectural assumptions; uncertainty management; design decisions;

    Sammanfattning : Modern vehicles have electrical architectures whose complexity grows year after year due to feature growth corresponding to customer expectations. The latest of the expectations, automation of the dynamic driving task however, is poised to bring about some of the largest changes seen so far. LÄS MER
