  2. 7. La portée de la négation. Un examen de quelques facteurs sémantiques et textuels pertinents à sa détermination dans des énoncés authentiques

  3. 8. Understanding Neural Machine Translation : An investigation into linguistic phenomena and attention mechanisms

    Författare :Gongbo Tang; Joakim Nivre; Rico Sennrich; Philipp Koehn; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, I explore neural machine translation (NMT) models via targeted investigation of various linguistic phenomena and thorough exploration of the internal structure of NMT models, in particular the attention mechanism. With respect to linguistic phenomena, I explore the ability of NMT models to translate ambiguous words, to learn long-range dependencies, to learn morphology, and to translate negation—linguistic phenomena that have been challenging for the older paradigm of statistical machine translation. 5. 10. Neural and behavioural mechanisms underlying the processing of negated meanings : Words, pictures and sentences

    Författare :Sara Farshchi; Kognition och Discourse@Lund (SKD@L) Språk; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; negation; scalar meanings; artificial language learning; EEG; ERP; semantic incongruities; N400; P600; sentence processing; auditory processing;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis combines a number of methodologies and measures in order to address the processing of two types of negation (with not and un) in relation to each other and to non-negated affirmative meanings. The four investigations in this thesis target the processing of these meanings at different levels, namely the word level (Study 1) and sentence level (Studies 2–4). LÄS MER
