26. Extreme water catalyzed transformations of SiO2, TiO2 and LiAlSiO4
Sammanfattning : The dramatic change in properties of water near its critical point (i.e. T = 374 °C and p = 22.1 MPa, note: 100 MPa = 0. LÄS MER
27. The dynamic surface nature of calcite and its role in determining the adsorptive stability toward hydrophobizing carboxylic fatty acids
Sammanfattning : Calcium carbonate has attracted a lot of interest over the centuries. Nowadays, mainly as mineral pigment and filler, it has a wide use in technological applications ranging from paper, construction, polymers, and environmental solutions to consumer goods. LÄS MER
28. Analysis and speciation of organic phosphorus in environmental matrices : Development of methods to improve 31P NMR analysis
Sammanfattning : Phosphorus (P) is an essential element for life on our planet. It is central in numerous biochemical processes in terrestrial and aqueous ecosystems including food production; and it is the primary growth-limiting nutrient in some of the world’s biomes. LÄS MER
29. Understanding Composition–Structure–Bioactivity Correlations in Bioactive Glasses
Sammanfattning : Bioactive glasses integrate with bone/tooth tissues by forming a layer of hydroxy-carbonate apatite (HCA), which mimics the composition of bone mineral. In the current thesis, we investigated composition–structure–bioactivity correlations of phosphosilicate and borophosphosilicate (BPS) glasses. LÄS MER
30. Changes of Ca and Mg silicate minerals induced by grinding and interaction with water
Sammanfattning : FT-IR spectroscopy, powder XRD, 29Si MAS-NMR, 13C CP/1H-decoupling MAS-NMR, BET surface area and CO2-content measurements have been used to study the processes which occur during dry grinding of Ca and Mg silicate minerals: diopside, enstatite, åkermanite, and wollastonite. In the course of grinding alongside to hydration and amorphisation considerable sorption of atmospheric CO2 by ground minerals occur. LÄS MER
