11. On the investigation of chemical parameters reflecting microbial activity linked to nutrient availability in forest soil
Sammanfattning : As agrarian society developed, the most fertile soils able to sustain the nutritional requirements needed for high crop yield were assigned to farming, while the more penurious soils were left to uphold the forest ecosystems. Some temperate forests are developed on acidic soils considered to be nutrient poor, as much of the inorganic nutrients are entrapped in poorly weatherable soil minerals and not easily accessed by plant roots. 12. On the solubility of radium sulfate and carbonate
Sammanfattning : Radium is one of the most toxic elements and its concentration in different human activities and migration from man-made wastes provokes a strong interest in environmental science. To be able to model the migration process, reliable experimental thermodynamic data of radium compounds are needed. LÄS MER
13. Surface and Bulk Reactivity of Iron Oxyhydroxides : A Molecular Perspective
Sammanfattning : Iron oxyhydroxide (FeOOH) mineral plays an important role in a variety of atmospheric, terrestrial and technological settings. Molecular resolution of reactions involving these minerals is thereby required to develop a fundamental understanding of their contributions in processes taking place in the atmosphere, Earth’s upper crust as well as the hydrosphere. 14. Surface complexation at calcium mineral-water interfaces
Sammanfattning : Surface reactions occurring at solid-water interfaces in calcium mineral-ligands systems have been studied. Both hydrous apatite and fluorite surfaces show clear amphoteric properties. An ion exchange process between lattice ions of F- on fluorite and OH- ions in bulk solution is discovered. LÄS MER
15. Sulphide mineral collectors adsorbed on a ZnS internal reflection element : an infrared linear dichroism study
Sammanfattning : Separation and concentration of minerals by flotation is a well-known industrial process. In this process collector chemicals are used to modify the mineral surface to increase the hydrophobicity of the mineral particles. LÄS MER
