  1. 1. Factors of importance for radiosensitivity of tonsillar carcinoma

    Författare :Signe Friesland; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :TC; radiotherapy; radiosensitivity; complete remission; HPV; P53; MDM2; DNA-PK; DNA-PKcs; Ku86; Ku70.;

    Sammanfattning : Radiotherapy (RT) alone or in combination with surgery is the only curative treatment of tonsillar carcinoma (TC). As distant metastases are rare the loco-regional control is the most important factor determining survival. Methods for prediction of radiocurability are lacking. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Study of the mechanisms behind the additive effect of neoadjuvant castration on radiotherapy for prostate cancer

    Författare :Firas L Tarish; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Castration improves responses to radiotherapy (RT) in prostate cancer with unknown mechanism. An understanding of what happens at the cellular and molecular level in prostate cancer cells, while reducing their access to androgens and then exposing them to ionizing radiation (IR), would give us an opportunity to optimize the treatment and may also inspire novel therapeutic approaches. 3. 3. Preclinical imaging of prostate cancer using radiolabeled antibodies

    Författare :Susan Evans Axelsson; Malmö Urologisk cancerforskning; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Target-specific molecular imaging with radiolabeled antibodies has experienced a rapid growth over the past 20 years, and is now an essential tool to provide information on disease presence and extent. Despite all efforts to detect and control prostate cancer at an early stage, a number of men are still progressing to develop incurable metastatic disease. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Functionally-associated target antigens in cancer. Defined by human antibodies and small interfering RNAs

    Författare :Johan Fransson; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; phage display; Antibody; cancer; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; serology; Immunology; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Cytology;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is the collective name for diseases that have one thing in common ? uncontrolled cell growth. The increase in cancer cell proliferation eventually results in tumor formation and, in the worst case, metastatic spread to other organs. Common treatment modalities of cancer include chemotherapy and radiation therapy. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Outcome of preoperative radiotherapy in the treatment of cervical cancer with focus on protein expression and dosimetry

    Författare :Catharina Beskow; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Treatment with preoperative intracavitary radiotherapy (ICRT) is used in cervical cancer with the intention to reduce the tumour burden and sterilize microscopic disease in the paracervical tissues. Preoperative ICRT is, however, a controversial treatment regime since it is unclear if addition of ICRT to surgery improves treatment outcome compared to surgery alone. LÄS MER
