11. Hypoxia inducible factor 1 alpha : dependent and independent regulation of hematopoietic stem cells and leukemia
Sammanfattning : This thesis has studied the role of low oxygen levels, or hypoxia, in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and how, at the molecular level, it regulates stem cell maintenance and protects against oxidative stress induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS). HSCs reside within the bone marrow in specific niches created by a unique vascularized environment, which is suggested to be hypoxic and crucial for HSCs by maintaining a quiescent state of cell cycle and by redirecting metabolism away from the mitochondria to glycolysis. 12. Design for Participation and Inclusion will Follow : Disabled People and the Digital Society
Sammanfattning : Digitalization is rapidly taking over all aspects of society, but still there are parts of the population who have to struggle for access to, and to be able to use, the digital resources. Design processes and outcomes in the form of artefacts, that takes accessibility into account, is key to participation. LÄS MER
13. Genetic Alterations in Lymphoma : with Focus on the Ikaros, NOTCH1 and BCL11B Genes
Sammanfattning : Cell proliferation is a process that is strictly regulated by a large number of proteins. An alteration in one of the encoding genes inserts an error into the regulative protein, which may result in uncontrolled cell growth and eventually tumor formation. LÄS MER
14. Advances in Separation Science : . Molecular Imprinting: Development of Spherical Beads and Optimization of the Formulation by Chemometrics
Sammanfattning : An intrinsic mathematical model for simulation of fixed bed chromatography was demonstrated and compared to more simplified models. The former model was shown to describe variations in the physical, kinetic, and operating parameters better than the latter ones. LÄS MER
15. Signal Transduction in Malignant Cells – Transformation, Activation and Differentiation
Sammanfattning : All aspects of cell life are regulated by signal transduction mechanisms. This thesis describes the regulatory roles of a few key signal transduction molecules involved in three major biological responses. LÄS MER
