  1. 6. Growth regulation in sarcomas : studies in vivo and in cell culture

    Författare :Avni Abdiu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Sarcomas are malignant tumors of mesenchymal origin, and can arise in soft-tissue and in bones. It has been suggested that the abnormal growth regulation in sarcoma cells may be due to an autocrine mechanism, in which the cells are stimulated by an endogenous production of growth factors. 2. 7. Integrin Signaling in Cell Adhesion and Mechanotransduction : Regulation of PI3K, AKT, and ROS

    Författare :Kathrin Stephanie Zeller; Staffan Johansson; Kristofer Rubin; John Couchman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; integrin; ROS; PI3K; AKT; mechanosignaling; actin polymerization; spreading;

    Sammanfattning : Integrins are a family of conserved cell surface receptors found throughout the animal kingdom. They comprise 24 dimers in mammals, and regulate a number of processes including cell survival, differentiation, and migration. LÄS MER

  3. 8. RhoGTPase Signaling in Cell Polarity and Gene Regulation

    Författare :Ann-Sofi Johansson; Pontus Aspenström; Johan Lennartsson; Christer Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; RhoGTPase; Par6; cell polarity; aPKC; epithelial cell; PDGF; gene regulation; microarray; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : RhoGTPases are proteins working as molecular switches as they bind and hydrolyze GTP. They are in their active conformation when GTP is bound and are then able to interact with their effector proteins, which relay the downstream signaling. When the GTP is hydrolyzed to GDP, the RhoGTPase is inactivated. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Lysosomal Membrane Stability and Cathepsins in Cell Death

    Författare :Hanna Appelqvist; Karin Öllinger; Katarina Kågedal; Petra Wäster; Maria Shoshan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Lysosomes are acidic organelles that are critically involved in a number of physiological processes, including macromolecule degradation, endocytosis, autophagy, exocytosis and cholesterol homeostasis. Several pathological conditions, such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders and lysosomal storage diseases, involve lysosomal disturbances, indicating the importance of the organelle for correct cellular function. 5. 10. Histone H1 : Subtypes and phosphorylation in cell life and death

    Författare :Anna Gréen; Ingemar Rundquist; Peter Söderkvist; Rolf Ohlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The genetic information of a human diploid cell is contained within approximately 2 metres of linear DNA. The DNA molecules are compacted and organized in various ways to fit inside the cell nucleus. Various kinds of histones are involved in this compaction. One of these histones, histone H1 is the topic of the present thesis. LÄS MER
