  1. 1. HLA genetics in multiple sclerosis

    Författare :Jenny Link; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease in which both genetic and environmental risk factors contribute to disease susceptibility. MS patients suffer from inflammatory lesions in the central nervous system which results in demyelination of nerve cells, reduced neuronal activity and finally neurodegeneration. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Aspects of immunogenetics, infections, and nutrition on the risk of celiac disease autoimmunity in an Ethiopian pediatric birth cohort

    Författare :Adugna Negussie Gudeta; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; celiac disease; HLA-DQ2; HLA-DQ8; infection; diet;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Celiac disease (CD) is an immune-mediated inflammatory disease of the intestine in genetically susceptible individuals caused by loss of tolerance to the storage proteins (gluten) in wheat, rye, and barley. Little is known about CD and associated risk factors in Sub-Saharan African countries including Ethiopia. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Polyglandular Autoimmune (PGA) Syndromes and associations to sarcoidosis

    Sammanfattning : Polyglandular Autoimmune (PGA) syndrome type II in idiopathic Addison's disease: In a retrospective study of idiopathic Ad-dison's disease (median age at diagnosis 32.5 years, range 8-62; median observation time 17 years, range 0.5-41), 50% met the criteria for PGA syndrome type II. In PGA syndrome type II, 73% had ATD and 41% had IDDM. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genetic linkage and association studies in celiac disease: discoveries from whole genome analysis

    Författare :Svetlana Adamovic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Celiac Disease; genome-wide scan; linkage; association; GWAS; complex disease; autoimmune; 5q31-33; HLA; IL2 IL21;

    Sammanfattning : Celiac Disease (CD) or Gluten Sensitive Enteropathy (GSE) is a life-long disorder. It is characterized by inflammation in the small intestine of genetically predisposed individuals caused by inappropriate immune response to gluten, a protein enriched in some of our common grains (wheat, rye and barley). 5. 5. Autoantibodies as markers of beta-cell autoimmunity in children

    Författare :Hanna Holmberg; Johnny Ludvigsson; Mona Landin-Olsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 diabetes; Autoantibodies; Beta-cell autoimmunity; Children; Breast-feeding; HLA haplotypes; Insulin gene; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a chronic disease caused by destruction of the insulin producing beta-cells in the pancreas. The incidence of T1D has increased rapidly, especially in the Western world and among young children. LÄS MER
