1. Coordination chemistry of late transition metals with PCP ligands. Synthesis, catalysis and mechanism
Sammanfattning : Abstract The work presented in this thesis discusses synthesis of PCP-complexes and utilisations of such organometallic compounds in catalysis. The complexes, obtained by intramolecular Csp3-H activation, are based on the metals palladium, platinum and iridium. LÄS MER
2. Novel strategies for C-C/X bond formation
Sammanfattning : The formation of C-C/X bonds is essential for the manufacture of a broad range of chemicals and materials used in areas critical for maintaining quality of life in modern society, e.g. pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and polymers, and for aspects of research in organic chemistry. 3. Transition Metal Mediated Transformations of Carboranes
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the use of copper and palladium to mediate transformations of carboranes, especially p-carborane.1-(1-p-carboranyl)-N-methyl-N-(2-butyl)-3-isoquinolinecarboxamide, a carborane containing analogue of the peripheral benzodiazepine receptor (PBR) ligand PK11195, has been synthesised. 4. Towards alkali-stable polymers and hydroxide exchange membranes functionalized with alicyclic quaternary ammonium cations
Sammanfattning : In the current work, cationic polymers functionalized with N-alicyclic quaternary ammonium (QA) cations were synthesized and characterized as potential hydroxide exchange membranes (HEMs) for application in fuel cells. Three different polymers, namely poly(arylene ether sulfone), spiro-ionene and poly(arylene alkylene), were explored as polymer backbones for the HEMs. LÄS MER
5. Catalytic reactions with palladium supported on mesocellular foam : Applications in hydrogenation, isomerization, and C-C bond forming reactions
Sammanfattning : The major part of this thesis concerns the development of catalytic methodologies based on palladium nanoparticles immobilized on aminopropyl-functionalized siliceous mesocellular foam (Pd0-AmP-MCF). The catalytic activity of the precursor to the nanocatalyst, PdII-AmP-MCF is also covered by this work. LÄS MER
