  1. 1. The Role of the Forest in Climate Policy

    Författare :Mathilda Eriksson; Runar Brännlund; Tommy Lundgren; Brent Sohngen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; climate change; integrated assessment; forest carbon sequestration; forest bioenergy; avoided deforestation; afforestation; uncertainty; dynamic modeling; DICE; RICE; nationalekonomi; Economics;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractIn Paper [I], I develop the FOR-DICE model to analyze optimal global forest carbon management. The FOR-DICE is a simple framework for assessing the role of the boreal, tropical, and temperate forests as both a source of renewable energy and a resource to sequester and store carbon. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Malaria; Mosquito; Lead time; Early Warnings; Forecasts; Economic Evaluation; Rainfall; KEMRI CDC HDSS; Kenya; Temperature; LST; NDVI; Climate; HDSS; GAM; GAMBOOST; DLNM; Remote Sensing; Net Benefit; Cost-Effectiveness; Boosting Regression; Weather; Public Health; Infectious Diseases; folkhälsa; Public health; Epidemiology; epidemiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Great strides have been made in combating malaria, however, the indicators in sub Saharan Africa still do not show promise for elimination in the near future as malaria infections still result in high morbidity and mortality among children. The abundance of the malaria-transmitting mosquito vectors in these regions are driven by climate suitability. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modelling Climate Policy – Trade-Off Metrics, Resource Markets, and Uncertainty

    Författare :Daniel Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; OPEC; GWP; energy; uncertainty; biomass; climate change; oil; land use; greenhouse gases; Kyoto Protocol;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of five papers related to climate change policy. In paper I andpaper II we discuss the use of Global Warming Potentials (GWPs) that facilitate the tradeoffbetween abatement of the different greenhouse gases (GHGs). LÄS MER

  4. 4. MAKING TRADE-OFFS IN THE GREENHOUSE: Relative Price Changes, Non-CO2 Greenhouse Gases and Tropical Deforestation in Climate Policy

    Författare :Martin Persson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; GWP; discounting; RED; climate change; substitutability; Kyoto protocol; tropical deforestation; palm oil; biofuels; Amazon; climate policy; uncertainty;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis, consisting of five separate papers, is an inquiry into climate policy and the trade-offs that have to be made when formulating such policy. It covers three major topics: (1) the economics of choosing a climate policy target; (2) the economic merits of the Global Warming Potentials (GWPs), the metric governing the trade-off between abatement of different greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the current climate regime; and (3) the promises and challenges with including the GHG emissions from tropical deforestation in a future climate regime. 5. 5. Navigating interconnected and electrified industries in the landscape of uncertainty : Exploring outcomes and values within circular solutions, and Swedish electricity supply and utilisation dynamics

    Författare :Christoffer Wadström; Maria Johansson; Erik Dahlquist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Circular system; Outcomes and values in industrial symbiosis; Global economic policy uncertainty; Energy system; Electricity use dynamics;

    Sammanfattning : As the global community faces unprecedented climate change challenges, the transition towards a sustainable society has become an urgent priority. The complexity of this transition is characterised by the interplay of developing and implementing green manufacturing processes, integrated energy systems, and circular resource flows, and the inherent dynamics associated with geopolitical uncertainties, energy price fluctuations, and global instability.
