  1. 1. Lignin Conversion to Value-Added Small-Molecule Chemicals : Towards Integrated Forest Biorefineries

    Författare :Omar Y. Abdelaziz; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aromatic monomers; biorefinery; catalysis; kraft lignin; lignin depolymerization; lignin valorization; microbial conversion; renewable chemicals; techno-economic analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Lignin is the most abundant aromatic biopolymer on Earth and has significant potential as a feedstock for industrial use. Due to its intrinsic heterogeneity and recalcitrance, lignin has been regarded as a low-value side-product in the pulp and paper industry and in second-generation biorefineries. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Pulse Generation and Detection through Intra-Cavity Up-Conversion

    Författare :Max Widarsson; Fredrik Laurell; Valdas Pasiskevicius; Peter Tidemand-Lichtenberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optik och fotonik; Optics and Photonics;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis concerns two main categories: pulse detection and pulse generation, however both utilise intra-cavity up-conversion. The work regarding pulse detection deals with up-conversion LIDAR and was split into two smaller projects, the first one focused on the resolution in measurements along one line with multiple reflections, and the second focused on measurements further into the MIR, as well as performing 3D imaging. 3. 3. A novel principle for immunomodulator delivery with hematopoietic cells as vehicles Focus on soluble TNF-receptor gene expression, targeting to secretory lysosomes and regulated secretion

    Författare :Ying Gao; Avdelningen för hematologi och transfusionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellulära vätskor; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; Medicin människa och djur ; Haematology; Medicine human and vertebrates ; neutrophil; granule; secretory lysosome; sorting; phagocytosis; degranulation.; mast cell; hematopoietic cell; inflammation; soluble TNF receptor;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this research is to use hematopoietic cells as vehicles for targeting transgenic immunomodulators to the inflammatory sites. The work presented was focused on the anti-inflammatory soluble TNF receptor. A transmembrane soluble TNF receptor (sTNFR1) construct was expressed in hematopoietic cell lines. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Catalytic conversion of biomass-derived synthesis gas to liquid fuels

    Författare :Rodrigo Suárez París; Magali Boutonnet; Agustín Martínez Feliu; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biofuels; Fischer-Tropsch wax; higher alcohols; hydroconversion; kinetic modelling; methanol cofeeding; microemulsion; MoS2; noble metal; syngas; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change is one of the biggest global threats of the 21st century. Fossil fuels constitute by far the most important energy source for transportation and the different governments are starting to take action to promote the use of cleaner fuels. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Backward and Forward Nonlinear Optical Processes in Potassium Titanyl Phosphate

    Författare :Kjell Martin Mølster; Fredrik Laurell; Valdas Pasiskevicius; Ulf L. Österberg; Stefano Taccheo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; QPM; PPKTP; Nonlinear Optics; Backward second-harmonic; BWOPO; OPO; parametric devices; QPM; Ickelinär Optik; BWOPO; OPO; PPKTP; QPM; kvasifasematching; ikkelinæer optikk; bakovervendt parametrisk oscillator; optisk parametrisk oscillator; PPKTP; Optics and Photonics; Optik och fotonik; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Second-order nonlinear optical processes generate radiation across a broad spectrum, including UV and the far-infrared. In this thesis, new light sources in the near(NIR) and mid infrared (MIR) using three-wave mixing geometries in periodically poled potassium titanyl phosphate (PPKTP) is studied. LÄS MER
