  1. 16. Organocatalytic Acylation for the Kinetic Resolution of Secondary Aryl Alcohols : Synthetic Applications and Mechanistic Studies

    Författare :Laura Mesas Sánchez; Peter Dinér; Pavel Kočovský; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kinetic resolution; organocatalysis; secondary alcohols; reaction progress kinetic analysis; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The research described in this thesis focuses on the catalytic acylative kinetic resolution (KR) of aromatic secondary alcohols, using a planar-chiral 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine (DMAP) organocatalyst.In the first part of this thesis, the substrate scope of the above mentioned process was expanded to aromatic secondary alcohols that contain an extra functional group in the alkyl moiety, such as 1,2-azido alcohols, 2-hydroxy-2-aryl-ethylphosphonates and 2-hydroxy-2-aryl esters. 2. 17. The Serotonin Transporter and the Vesicular Monoamine Transporters During Development

    Författare :Stefan R Hansson; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; whiskers; lateral geniculate; infraorbital nerve; neural crest; merkel; somatosensory cortex; Key wordscitalopram; thalamus; visual cortex; Physiology; Fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In the present study, the mRNA encoding the serotonin transporter (5-HTT) and two isoforms of the vesicular monoamine transporters (VMAT1 and VMAT2) have been mapped in the rat throughout gestation and early postnatal development using in situ hybridization, RT PCR and immunohistochemistry. 5-HTT mRNA was found in serotonergic neurons and VMAT2 mRNA in all monoaminergic neurons from early gestation. 3. 18. Recruitment to multicentre randomised controlled trials in stroke : lessons learnt from the effects trial

    Författare :Eva Isaksson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Effects;

    Sammanfattning : Randomised controlled trials are the gold standard for evaluation treatments. Nevertheless, recruitment into trials is still challenging and many trials fail to meet their recruitment goals within the predetermined time. Less than one third of the trials managed to recruit according to their original plan. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Pharmacological and genetic modulation of adult neurogenesis in animal models relevant to neuropsychiatric disorders

    Författare :Martin Thor Egeland; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : During the past decade, the modulation of adult neurogenesis has been an intensively studied area of neuroscience due to the implications for understanding of physiological mechanisms in the adult brain and the potential clinical applications for neuropsychiatric disorders. This research has resulted in countless discoveries during a relatively short period of time elucidating mechanistic details about where adult neurogenesis takes place, how the process of neurogenesis occurs and how this process can be regulated at several different steps by, not only endogenous mechanisms which normally maintain a homeostasis of adult neurogenesis, but also by exogenous regulation using genetic and pharmacological modulations to manipulate steps of the process. 5. 20. Uptake and bioaccumulation of ionizable pharmaceuticals in aquatic organisms

    Författare :Marja L. Boström; Enhet akvatisk ekologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antidepressiva medel; Avloppsvatten; BAF; BCF; Bioackumulation; Biokoncentration; Biomagnifikation; CYP; Extraktionsteknik; HF-LPME; Joniserbara läkemedel; Metabolism; pH; Riskanalys; Tolerans; Antidepressant; BAF; BCF; Bioaccumulation; Bioconcentration; Biomagnification; CYP; Extraction technique; HF-LPME; Ionizable pharmaceutical; Metabolism; pH; Risk assessment; Tolerance; Wastewater;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmaceuticals are found at low concentrations (ng/L) in aquatic environments but bioaccumulation may result in aquatic organisms reaching internal effect levels (µg/L). Environmental hazard assessments include standardized bioaccumulation tests but contrary to the model substances around which the frameworks are built most pharmaceuticals are designed to mimic endogenic chemicals, ionizable, and less lipophilic.
