1. Finite element methods for threads and plates with real-time applications
Sammanfattning : Thin and slender structures are widely occurring both in nature and in human creations. Clever geometries of thin structures can produce strong constructions while using a minimal amount of material. LÄS MER
2. On the deformation behavior and cracking of ductile iron; effect of microstructure
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the effect of microstructural variation on the mechanical properties and deformation behavior of ductile iron. To research and determine these effects, two grades of ductile iron, (i) GJS-500-7 and (ii) high silicon GJS-500-14, were cast in a geometry containing several plates with different section thicknesses in order to produce microstructural variation. 3. Modeling the behavior of inclusions in plastic deformation of steels
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis presents a modeling method fordemonstrating the behavior of inclusions and their surroundingmatrix during plastic deformation of steels.Inclusions are inescapable components of all steels. LÄS MER
4. On the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian Finite Element Method
Sammanfattning : This thesis has been devoted to the study and development of algorithms for Finite Element (FE) simulations of mechanical processes involving large deformations. Aspects of three different formulations have been considered:(i) The single material Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) formulation is a method where the FE mesh is allowed to move independently to the material flow. 5. A numerical and experimental study of initial defibration of wood
Sammanfattning : A major drawback of the defibration or refining process in manufacturing pulp is that of its large energy requirements. If the mechanics of the process were better understood, large amounts of energy could probably be saved. The initial defibration seems to be crucial for both the quality of the pulp and the total consumption of energy. LÄS MER
