  1. 36. Evaluation of image quality and diagnostic accuracy in breast tomosynthesis. Comparison with digital mammography and estimates of radiation risk

    Författare :Tony Svahn; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diagnostic accuracy; breast tomosynthesis BT ; digital mammography DM ; average glandular dose AGD ; receiver operating characteristics ROC ; risk assessment; search-model SM ; proper ROC PROPROC ;

    Sammanfattning : Recent advances in the digital detector technology have paved the way for modalities such as two-dimensional digital mammography (DM) and three-dimensional breast tomosynthesis (BT). In this work, experimental studies were conducted to investigate the influence of reducing the average glandular dose (AGD) on detection of simulated lesions in DM and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of BT and DM. 2. 37. Improved Molecular Understanding of Lipid-Based Formulations : for Enabling Oral Delivery of Poorly Water-Soluble Drugs

    Författare :Linda C. Alskär; Christel Bergström; Brendan Griffin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; lipid-based formulation; poorly water-soluble drug; solubility prediction; molecular properties; lipid digestion; precipitation; solid state; intestinal solubilization; in vitro in vivo correlation IVIVC ; coadministration; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The majority of emerging drug candidates are not suited for conventional oral dosage forms, as they do not dissolve in the aqueous environment of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Consequently, a large number of enabling formulation strategies have emerged. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Mechanism-based modeling of biological processes involved in oral absorption

    Författare :Benjamin Guiastrennec; Mats O. Karlsson; Martin Bergstrand; Jörg Lippert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; absorption; bile acids; enterohepatic circulation; food effect; gallbladder; in vitro in vivo correlation; NONMEM; pediatrics; pharmacometrics; tuberculosis; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : For orally administered drugs, the rate and extent of absorption are governed by the physiology of the gastrointestinal tract, the characteristics of the dosage form and the physico-chemical properties of the drug. This thesis primarily aimed to improve the mechanistic understanding and the predictability of processes involved in the absorption of orally administered drugs using a population modeling approach. 4. 39. Mechanical characterization and modelling of the fracture behaviour of thin brittle coatings on polymer films

    Författare :Marcus Vinícius Tavares da Costa; E. Kristofer Gamstedt; Christoph Kirchlechner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Brittle coating; Polymer substrate; Crack density; Weibull distribution; SEM; Digital image correlation; Finite element modelling; Energy release rate;

    Sammanfattning : Thin brittle coatings with thickness of a few nanometres deposited on flexible polymer substrates form an interesting material combination for food packaging and flexible electronics. This combination may enhance the barrier performance in carton packages. In flexible electronics, coatings could conduct electricity despite their small thickness. LÄS MER

  5. 40. X-ray microtomography and digital volume correlation for internal deformation and strain analysis

    Författare :Fredrik Forsberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Experimentell mekanik; Experimental Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : A material that is exposed to mechanical load or experience a variation in its immediate environment (temperature, pressure, humidity etc.) will to some extent be affected by these new conditions, which is reflected through structural movements in the material. LÄS MER
