  2. 2. Incidental Gallbladder Cancer : Incidence, predictors, management and outcome in a Swedish population

    Författare :Linda Lundgren; Per A Sandström; Axel Ros; Gunnar Persson; Oliver Gimm; Magnus Nilsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Cholecystectomy is a common surgical procedure and incidental gallbladder cancer is a rare and unexpected finding at a cholecystectomy performed upon benign indications. Whether to perform routine or selective histopathology of the gallbladder specimen is still a subject for discussion. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mechanism-based modeling of biological processes involved in oral absorption

    Författare :Benjamin Guiastrennec; Mats O. Karlsson; Martin Bergstrand; Jörg Lippert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; absorption; bile acids; enterohepatic circulation; food effect; gallbladder; in vitro in vivo correlation; NONMEM; pediatrics; pharmacometrics; tuberculosis; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : For orally administered drugs, the rate and extent of absorption are governed by the physiology of the gastrointestinal tract, the characteristics of the dosage form and the physico-chemical properties of the drug. This thesis primarily aimed to improve the mechanistic understanding and the predictability of processes involved in the absorption of orally administered drugs using a population modeling approach. 4. 4. Structure and function of the HDL receptor SR-BI : scavenger receptor class B type I

    Författare :Magnus S.C. Johnson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SR-BI; HDL; Cholesterol; Scavenger receptor; Apoptosis; Ovary; Gallbladder; Peroxisome;

    Sammanfattning : Low plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) are well-recognized risk factors for cardiovascular disease. The uptake and degradation of LDL cholesterol have been characterized in detail at the molecular level. Less is known about the metabolism and cellular uptake of HDL cholesterol. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Gallbladder and pancreatic disease in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis

    Författare :Karouk Said; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Cholecystitis; gallbladder; ejection fraction; magnetic resonance imaging; pancreatic duct; chronic pancreatitis; thioredoxin; Immunohistochemical staining;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this study were to assess the occurrence of gallbladder abnormalities and dysfunction, to evaluate clinically useful biomarkers for premalignancy and malignancy in gallbladder epithelium and to assess presence of pancreatic duct changes and early pancreatic abnormalities in patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). In paper I and III we investigated presence of gallbladder abnormalities in 286 patients with PSC treated at Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge, between 1970 and 2005. LÄS MER
