  1. 26. Aspects of PET-CT in prostate cancer. Protocol optimization, diagnostic accuracy, and dosimetry

    Författare :Mimmi Bjöersdorff; Malmö Nuklearmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PET-CT; Prostatacancer; [18F]FCH; [18F]PSMA-1007; optimering; diagnostisk noggrannhet; dosimetri; PET-CT; Prostate Cancer; [18F]FCH; [18F]PSMA-1007; Optimization; Diagnostic accuracy; Dosimetric;

    Sammanfattning : The PET-CT imaging modality is based on positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography. Before a PET-CT examination, a radioactive tracer (also called a radiopharmaceutical) is intravenously injected into the patient. PET technology images the distribution of this tracer element by detecting the decay. LÄS MER

  2. 27. Towards Personalized Cancer Therapy : New Diagnostic Biomarkers and Radiosensitization Strategies

    Författare :Diana Spiegelberg; Marika Nestor; Bo Stenerlöw; Johan Lennartson; Theodosia Maina-Nock; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tumor targeting; radionuclide targeting; HSP90 inhibition; AT13387; radiosensitization; molecular imaging; combination treatment; EGFR; CD44v6; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the evaluation of biomarkers for radio-immunodiagnostics and radio-immunotherapy and on radiosensitization strategies after HSP90 inhibition, as a step towards more personalized cancer medicine. There is a need to develop new tracers that target cancer-specific biomarkers to improve diagnostic imaging, as well as to combine treatment strategies to potentiate synergistic effects. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Experiences of Interns and General Practitioners of Communicating with and Writing Referrals to the Radiology Department

    Författare :Johan Kruse; Åsa Engström; Solweig Lundgren; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Referral; communication; knowledge; radiology; General Practitioner; medical intern; Health Science; Hälsovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this licentiate thesis was to describe the experiences of medical interns and general practitioners (GPs) communicating with and writing referrals to the radiology department. The referral is a major communication tool between medical professionals to establish an accurate diagnosis. LÄS MER

  4. 29. Key Data for the Reference and Relative Dosimetry of Radiotherapy and Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Beams

    Författare :Hamza Benmakhlouf; Pedro Andreo; Klemens Zink; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Backscatter factors; Diagnostic radiology dosimetry; Mass energy-absorption coefficients; Monte Carlo; Output correction factors; Radiotherapy dosimetry; Reference dosimetry; Relative dosimetry; Small photon fields; Medical Radiation Physics; medicinsk strålningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : Accurate dosimetry is a fundamental requirement for the safe and efficient use of radiation in medical applications. International Codes of Practice, such as IAEA TRS-398 (2000) for radiotherapy beams and IAEA TRS-457 (2007) for diagnostic radiology beams, provide the necessary formulation for reference and relative dosimetry and the data required for their implementation. 5. 30. Evaluation of image quality and diagnostic accuracy in breast tomosynthesis. Comparison with digital mammography and estimates of radiation risk

    Författare :Tony Svahn; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diagnostic accuracy; breast tomosynthesis BT ; digital mammography DM ; average glandular dose AGD ; receiver operating characteristics ROC ; risk assessment; search-model SM ; proper ROC PROPROC ;

    Sammanfattning : Recent advances in the digital detector technology have paved the way for modalities such as two-dimensional digital mammography (DM) and three-dimensional breast tomosynthesis (BT). In this work, experimental studies were conducted to investigate the influence of reducing the average glandular dose (AGD) on detection of simulated lesions in DM and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of BT and DM.
