1. Synthesis and applications of analogues of Tröger's base as molecular tubes, receptor and ligands
Sammanfattning : Tröger’s base was synthesized for the first time in 1887. The molecule is rigid, C2-symmetric and has a 90° angle, forming a chiral hydrophobic pocket. In this thesis, the synthesis of new analogues of Tröger’s base is described. 2- and 3-halo-substituted anilines have for the first time been condensed to Tröger’s base analogues. LÄS MER
2. Women on sick leave for long-term musculoskeletal pain : Factors associated with work ability, well-being and return to work
Sammanfattning : Background: Taking sick leave (SL) for long-term musculoskeletal pain (MSP), predominantly in the neck, shoulders and back, is common among women in Sweden. Long-term MSP affects their daily life and causes impaired work ability and long-term SL. LÄS MER
3. Development and Applications of Tracking of Pellet Streams
Sammanfattning : The development of a system for optical tracking of frozen hydrogen microsphere targets (pellets) was done. It is intended for the upcoming hadron physics experiment PANDA at FAIR, Darmstadt, Germany. LÄS MER
4. Investigation of Kinetically Labile Supramolecu-lar System Addressing Substrate Selectivity in the Catalytic Epoxidations of Olefins
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the development and investigation of a supramolecular system used to catalyze Jacobsen-Katsuki epoxidations with the aim to attain substrate selectivity without product inhibition. The supramolecular catalyst is composed of two well-defined entities or units: a catalytic and a receptor. LÄS MER
5. Introducing a Clinically Applicable Ultrasound Method for the Study of Gastric Emptying in Health and Disease. A Study in Healthy Subjects and Patients with Diabetes Mellitus
Sammanfattning : Abnormal gastric motor function, a frequent complication among the increasing diabetic population of the world, also includes other patient groups such as those many patients with functional dyspepsia. These facts stress the need for a reliable, safe, cost-effective, and simple technique for measuring gastric emptying. LÄS MER
