11. Analysis of PAHs and their transformations products in contaminated soil and remedial processes
Sammanfattning : Soil that is heavily contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is often found at the sites of former gasworks and wood-impregnation plants. Since PAHs are toxic these sites represent a hazard to human health and the environment, and therefore they need to be treated, preferably by a method that destroys the contaminants, and thus eliminates the problem permanently. 12. Characterization of PAC-contaminated soil with the focus on availability, leachability and biological activities
Sammanfattning : Current risk assessments of polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs)-contaminated soil are often based on the 16 priority PAHs and do not consider availability of PACs in soil sufficiently. This may lead to uncertainties of the assessment, since important contaminants can be overlooked and only a small fraction of contaminants is available for the uptake for organisms. LÄS MER
13. Heterogeneities in samples of contaminated soil
Sammanfattning : Many factors are important during sampling of contaminated soil. One of these is the sample sizes used. By estimation of the Heterogeneity Invariant (HI) it is possible to balance the sample size to one uncertainty contribution that is attached to sampling and sample handling. This is called the Fundamental error. LÄS MER
14. Remediation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance-contaminated soil and groundwater, using electrokinetic and stabilisation methods
Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as PFAS, are emerging contaminants with a worldwide environmental distribution and a concerning (eco)toxicological profile. The omnipresence of PFAS in various environmental media poses risks to the quality of our drinking water sources. LÄS MER
15. Chemical and bioanalytical characterisation of PAH-contaminated soils : identification, availability and mixture toxicity of AhR agonists
Sammanfattning : Contaminated soils are a worldwide problem. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are common contaminants in soil at former industrial areas, especially at old gasworks sites, gas stations and former wood impregnation facilities. LÄS MER
