  1. 6. Assemblies of Colloidal Hydrochar Nanoparticles and their Derived Activated Carbons for CO2 Sorption

    Författare :Xia Wang; Niklas Hedin; Gunnar Svensson; Oren Regev; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; colloids; hydrothermal carbonization; glucose; directed assembly; reactive infiltration; templating; silicon carbide; tricopper silicide; redispersion; nanoparticles; chemical activation; activated carbons; CO2 sorption; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Sammanfattning : Carbon-rich colloids are of great fundamental and technological interest and in this thesis, I tested a range of hypotheses and studied aspects of small hydrochar-based colloids and their colloidal and material chemistry. Crude hydrochar dispersions were synthesized by hydrothermal carbonization of glucose and purified by dialysis. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Dissolved Organic Matter from a colloidal perspective

    Författare :Erika Andersson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dissolved organic matter; colloids; Microbial decomposition; hematite nanoparticles; soil; small angle scattering; light scattering; 1H NMR;

    Sammanfattning : Dissolved organic matter (DOM) is considered the most bioavailable fraction of soil, and thus play a key role in the cycling of carbon. Because of its mobility, DOM also forms the connection between terrestrial and aquatic systems, and constitutes an important vector for nutrients and contaminants. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Physiological and clinical aspects of change in microvascular permeability

    Författare :Johan Persson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dextran; exercise; fluid therapy; gelatin; hydroxyethyl starch; Anaesthesiology; intensivvård; intensive care; Anestesiologi; crystalloids; colloids; Albumin; Capillary filtration coefficient;

    Sammanfattning : Microvascular permeability is important for exchange of fluids and proteins in health and in disease. Permeability increases in critical illness, such as during sepsis/SIRS and after trauma, and may be affected by drugs. Increased permeability causes oedema and hypovolaemia. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Hindered diffusion of nanoparticles

    Författare :Ananda Subramani Kannan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Brownian motion; Hydrodynamic interactions; Multiphase DNS; Mobility; Langevin-immersed boundary method; Colloids; Aerosols; Nanoscale and Rarefied gas.;

    Sammanfattning : Brownian theory provides us with a powerful tool which can be used to delve into a microscopic world of molecules, cells and nanoparticles, that was originally presumed to be beyond our reach. Consequently, modeling the inherent dynamics of a system through a Brownian transport equation is of relevance to several real-word problems that involve nanoparticles including, the transport and mitigation of particulate matter (PM) generated though fossil fuel combustion and nanocarrier mediated drug delivery. 5. 10. Colloidal Organic Pollutants in Road Runoff: Sources, Emissions and Effective Treatment Technologies

    Författare :Anna Markiewicz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organic pollutants; nanoparticles; stormwater; sorption filters; road dust; emulsions; washwater; vehicle wash; road runoff; microparticles; sweepsand; colloids; street sweeping;

    Sammanfattning : Thousands of organic substances circulate in our society and are diffusely emitted through traffic, combustion and leaching from constructions and building materials into the urban environment. The research in this PhD thesis focuses on road runoff as the highest concentrations of pollutants are frequently found in runoff from areas with high traffic intensity. LÄS MER
