  1. 16. Roles of secreted bacterial factors in modulation of host cell signalling

    Författare :Eric Toh; Sun Nyunt Wai; Teresa Frisan; Staffan Bohm; Ann-Beth Jonsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bacteria-host interaction; motility-associated killing factor A; outer membrane vesicles; cytolysin A; phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5-kinase alpha; enhancer of zeste homologue 2; epigenetic modulation; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Pathogenic bacteria employ several secretion systems to release or inject virulence factors that may alter host cell processes, generate a replicative niche, and aid bacterial survival in adverse environments. This thesis presents my investigations on how bacterial factors can modulate host cell signalling mechanisms. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Myofibroblasts and the Vascular Endothelium : Impact of Fibrin Degradation Products and miRNA on Vascular Motility and Function

    Författare :Peder Fredlund Fuchs; Pär Gerwins; Johan Kreuger; Arne Östman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Angiogenesis; Vascular biology; Chemotaxis; Endothelial cell; Myofibroblast; Wound healing; miRNA; Heparan sulfate; Medical Science; Medicinsk vetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature and is important during development as well as wound healing and tissue remodeling. Angiogenesis also occurs during pathological conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and cancer. LÄS MER

  3. 18. The mechanism of integrin inactivation and cell signalling induced by c-erbB2, an oncogenic growth factor receptor

    Författare :Shahram Hedjazifar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; c-erbB2; integrin á2â1; cell-matrix; integrin conformation; PKB; ERK; Rho; ILK; Nck-2;

    Sammanfattning : Overexpression of the oncogenic growth factor receptor, c-erbB2, is linked with poor prognosis in breast carcinomas and is used as a target for therapeutic strategies. To elucidate the mechanism underlying the tumorigenic action of an elevated c-erbB2 level, leading to homodimerization and activation, we have used an inducible system where a hybrid receptor consisting of the cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains of c-erbB2 fused to the extracellular domain of the trkA NGF receptor has been stably transfected into an immortalized mammary epithelial cell line. 4. 19. T-Cell Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase, a Regulator of the PDGF Signaling Pathway

    Författare :Susann Karlsson; Carina Hellberg; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Bengt Hallberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PDGF; TC-PTP; receptor trafficking; PK-M2; Medical cell biology; Medicinsk cellbiologi; molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) is a potent stimulator of cell growth, survival and motility. PDGF exerts its function by binding to specific tyrosine kinase receptors, initiating receptor auotphosphorylation and initiation of specific signaling pathways that regulates the cellular response. 5. 20. Experimental studies on glioma cell motility and proliferation

    Författare :Adila Salih El-Obeid; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; glioma; TGF-α; EGFR; GFAP; motility; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glioma is a malignant primary brain tumor associated with short patient survival. Various growth factors and cytoskeletal proteins are correlated to glioma progression. In this thesis the effects of transforming growth factor alpha (TGFα) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) were studied. LÄS MER
