  1. 11. Immunological mechanisms in systemic autoimmunity : autoantibodies and chemokines in systemic lupus erythematosus and during treatment with TNF inhibitors in rheumatoid arthritis

    Författare :Catharina Eriksson; Karl-Gösta Sundqvist; Solbritt Rantapää-Dahlqvist; Mari Norgren; Thomas Skogh; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; autoimmunity; chemokines; T-cells; autoantibodies; CD91; Clinical immunology; Klinisk immunologi; Rheumatology; Reumatologi; Clinical Immunology; klinisk immunologi; reumatologi; rheumatology;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease that, without powerful treatment, may lead to irreversible joint damage. During the past decade, anti-cytokine therapy has become available, e.g. LÄS MER

  2. 12. HIV-1 variability in relation to host defence mechanisms and disease outcome

    Författare :Marianne Jansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1; peptides; seroreactivity; genetic variability; pediatric; disease outcome; biological phenotypes; B-chemokines; coreceptors; V3; V2.;

    Sammanfattning : Genetic variability is a major characteristic of HIV-1. Virus variants evolve rapidly, not only globally, but also within single individuals as a result of an error-prone reverse transcriptase, a rapid virus population turnover and selective pressure from the host. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Astrocytes during HIV infection of the brain : relevance for neuropathogenesis

    Författare :Farideh Sabri; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to characterize the role that astrocytes play for neuropathogenesis of AIDS dementia complex (ADC). We studied whether it is possible to derive the phenotype of HIV-1 virus by analyzing V3 sequences. LÄS MER

  4. 14. A microcell hybrid based elimination test to identify human chromosome 3 regions that antagonize tumor growth

    Författare :Irina Kholodnyuk Holodnuka; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Deletions at multiple sites on the short arm of chr3 have been detected in many different types of human tumors. Each of the deleted regions is expected to harbor a tumor antagonizing/suppressor gene(s) (TSG). The earlier studies showed that the tumorigenicity of malignant cells could be suppressed by introducing a single human chr3. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Identification of the common eliminated region (CER1) by the microcell hybrid based 'elimination test'

    Författare :Ying Yang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Elimination test; common eliminated region 1 CER1 ; 3p21.3; microcell hybrids; tumor suppressor gene; LF lactoferrin ; LIMD1 LIM-domain containing gene 1 ; sequencing; MMCT microcell mediated chromosome transfer ; real time PM methylation;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of elimination test (Et) is to identify tumor antagonizing genes from chromosome regions that are regularly deleted in microcell hybrid (MCH) derived tumors through serial SCID mice passages. Et so far was focused on the short arm of human chromosome 3 (chr 3) due to its frequent deletions in 21 tumor types including renal cell carcinoma (RCC), small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC) and breast cancer (BRC).
