  1. 1. Displaced Femoral Neck Fractures : A prospective randomized study of clinical outcome, nutrition and costs

    Författare :Torsten Johansson; Ola Wahlström; Karl-Göran Thorngren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Arthroplasty; replacement; hip; adverse effects; economics; fracture fixation; internal; femoral neck fractures; surgery; ossification; heterotropic; etiology; nutritional support; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Displaced femoral neck fractures comprise more than a third of all hip fractures. There is controversy as to the optimal treatment. Despite attempts to improve the methods for internal fixation, complication rates have been almost unchanged: 20-40% non-union and late segmental collapse in another 10-20%. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Arthroplasty in patients with femoral neck fractures

    Författare :Carl Johan Hedbeck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to analyze hip function and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with a displaced fracture of the femoral neck treated with a cemented total hip arthroplasty (THA) or a hemiarthroplasty (HA), unipolar or bipolar. Moreover, the purpose was to analyze factors influencing the stability of the THA with special reference to the surgical approach and to evaluate the responsiveness of the Short Musculoskeletal Function Assessment (SMFA), i. 3. 3. Dislocation of hip arthroplasty in patients with femoral neck fractures

    Författare :Anders Enocson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Femoral neck fractures; Hip arthroplasty; Surgical treatment; Hip dislocations; Cognitive disorders; Quality of life; EQ-5D;

    Sammanfattning : Treatment of displaced fractures of the femoral neck with a hemiarthroplasty (HA) or a total hip arthroplasty (THA) today constitutes standard procedures with a good and predictable outcome with regard to the need for revision surgery, hip function and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL). However, dislocation of the prosthesis remains a substantial clinical problem in this patient group and the dislocation rate is considerably higher than what can be expected following a THA in patients with osteoarthritis. 4. 4. Aspects on treatment of femoral neck fractures : studies on treatment methods, surgical approach and external validity

    Författare :Sebastian Mukka; Arkan Sayed-Noor; Olof Sköldenberg; Lasse Lapidus; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hip fracture; femoral neck fracture; treatment; total hip arthroplasty; hemiarthroplasty; internal fixation; surgical approach; outcome; dislocation; femoral offset; leg length discrepancy; external validity; ortopedi; Orthopaedics;

    Sammanfattning : Femoral neck fracture (FNF) is a great challenge for today´s health care and is associated with high mortality and morbidity in the elderly.  In the short term several studies in the literature have demonstrated improved hip function, quality of life and fewer re-operations in elderly patients treated with total hip arthroplasty (THA) instead of internal fixation (IF). 5. 5. Old people with femoral neck fracture : delirium, malnutrition and surgical methods - an intervention program

    Författare :Birgitta Olofsson; Olle Svensson; Yngve Gustafson; Bengt Borssén; Anna-Karin Edberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; delirium; hip fracture; older people; orthopaedics; internal fixation; arthroplasty cognitive impairment; dementia; nursing; rehabilitation; femoral neck fracture; RCT; intervention; geriatric team; malnutrition; nurses; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Hip fracture is a global and a growing public health problem. More women than men sustain hip fractures, the incidence increases exponentially with age and mean age is above 80. About one third of hip-fracture patients suffer from dementia and are prone to develop acute confusional state (delirium). LÄS MER
