  1. 1. Aspects on treatment of femoral neck fractures : studies on treatment methods, surgical approach and external validity

    Författare :Sebastian Mukka; Arkan Sayed-Noor; Olof Sköldenberg; Lasse Lapidus; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hip fracture; femoral neck fracture; treatment; total hip arthroplasty; hemiarthroplasty; internal fixation; surgical approach; outcome; dislocation; femoral offset; leg length discrepancy; external validity; ortopedi; Orthopaedics;

    Sammanfattning : Femoral neck fracture (FNF) is a great challenge for today´s health care and is associated with high mortality and morbidity in the elderly.  In the short term several studies in the literature have demonstrated improved hip function, quality of life and fewer re-operations in elderly patients treated with total hip arthroplasty (THA) instead of internal fixation (IF). 2. 2. Leg length discrepancy and femoral offset after total hip arthroplasty : clinical and radiological studies

    Författare :Sarwar Mahmood; Arkan Sayed-Noor; Sead Crnalic; Gösta Ullmark; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Total hip arthroplasty; leg flength discrepancy; femoral offset; WOMAC; quality of life; complication; radiographic measurements; acetabular cup; inclination; anteversion; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Every year, about 1 million patients worldwide and 16000 patients in Sweden undergo total hip arthroplasty (THA). This surgical intervention is considered a successful, safe and cost-effective procedure to regain pain-free mobility and restore hip joint function in patients suffering from severe hip joint disease or trauma. Sammanfattning : Every year, about 1 million patients worldwide and 20000 patients in Sweden undergo total hip arthroplasty (THA). This type of operation is considered a successful, safe and cost-effective procedure to regain mobility and restore hip joint function in patients suffering from severe hip joint disease or trauma. 4. 4. The importance of biomechanical restoration for total hip arthroplasty

    Författare :Sverrir Kiernan; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Total hip arthroplasty (THA) has become a safe and very successful surgical intervention. A vast majority of patients get their expectations met. Improvement of materials, implant designs, and surgical techniques, have extended prosthetic survival. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :Primary total hip arthroplasty; anteverted stem; stem design; cemented and cementless fixation; radiostereometry; bone mineral density; clinical outcome;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of postoperative treatment, surface treatment and stem design on the outcome of primary Total Hip Arthroplasty. The main intention was to study anteverted femoral stems. LÄS MER
