26. Detection of myocardial ischemia : clinical and experimental studies with focus on vectorcardiography, heart rate and perioperative conditions
Sammanfattning : Introduction. Multiple clinical methods for detecting myocardial ischemia are utilised in the hospital setting each day, but there is uncertainty about their diagnostic accuracy. LÄS MER
27. Infammatory response to hyperbaric trauma. An experimental and clinical study
Sammanfattning : Reductions in ambient pressure liberates gas in various tissues and can result in decompression illness. In this thesis the patophysiological implications of a blood gas interface resulting from decompression was investigated with reference to the influence on biochemical mediators of inflammation. 28. Methodological aspects on microdialysis sampling and measurements
Sammanfattning : Background: The microdialysis (MD) technique is widely spread and used both experimentally and in clinical practice. The MD technique allows continuous collection of small molecules such as glucose, lactate, pyruvate and glycerol. Samples are often analysed using the CMA 600 analyser, an enzymatic and colorimetric analyser. LÄS MER
29. Endothelial function during ischemia-reperfusion and effects of inhalation of nitric oxide
Sammanfattning : The vascular endothelium is an important regulatory organ in circulatory physiology and plays a central role in the response to acute inflammation and ischemia/reperfusion. Activation and dysfunction of the pulmonary vascular endothelium are closely related to clinical findings of pulmonary dysfunction. LÄS MER
30. Fat metabolism during total parenteral nutrition: A biochemical and ultra-structural study
Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates alterations in lipid metabolism and Kupffer cell morphology seen during total parenteral nutrition in healthy rats. During infusion of lipid emulsions, cholesterol and phospholipids accumulated in non-high density lipoproteins, while high density lipoproteins were enriched in triglycerides. LÄS MER
