  1. 11. Acute postoperative and cancer-related pain management, Patients´ experiences and perceptions in relation to health-related quality of life and the multidimensionality of pain

    Författare :Barbro Boström; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anestesiologi; intensivvård; intensive care; Anaesthesiology; SF-36.; postoperative pain; Pain-o-Meter; perceptions; pain management; nursing care; Health-Related Quality of Life; American Pain Society; cancer-related pain; American Pain Society; MEDICINE;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes patients in acute postoperative pain as well as patients with acute cancer-related pain in palliative care, and their experiences and perceptions of pain management in relation to HRQOL and the multidimensionality of pain. A combination of qualitative and quantitative methods was chosen. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Novel Interventions in Cardiac Arrest : Targeted Temperature Management, Methylene Blue, S-PBN, Amiodarone, Milrinone and Esmolol,  Endothelin and Nitric Oxide In Porcine Resuscitation Models

    Sammanfattning : It is a major clinical problem that survival rates after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest have not markedly improved during the last decades, despite extensive research and the introduction of new interventions. However, recent studies have demonstrated promising treatments such as targeted temperature management (TTM) and methylene blue (MB). LÄS MER

  3. 13. Transvascular exchange and organ perfusion with reference to colloid and hypertonic solutions, and to endotoxaemia

    Författare :Staffan Holbeck; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; sepsis; mannitol; microdialysis; intestine; hypertonic saline; gut; hydroxyethyl starch; gelatin; endotoxin; fluid therapy; dextran; albumin; capillary filtration coefficient; intensivvård; Anestesiologi; urea; Anaesthesiology; intensive care; SIRS; reflection coefficient;

    Sammanfattning : Changes in vascular permeability can immensely change plasma volume and affect the degree of oedema in the body. In diseases with an increased vascular permeability, adequate fluid therapy is of considerable importance to prevent hypovolaemia. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Modern inhalation agents and effects of anaesthesia equipment during low-flow anaesthesia

    Författare :Anders Johansson; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anestesiologi; intensive care; intensivvård; Anaesthesiology; humidity and temperature; heat and moisture exchanger; isoflurane; desflurane; sevoflurane; anaesthetics volatile; carbon dioxide absorber; Low-flow; re-breathing circle circuit;

    Sammanfattning : Volatile agents are economically and ecologically acceptable only when administered via low-flow systems. However, sevoflurane degrades during low-flow anaesthesia to compound A, and a high carbon dioxide absorber temperature increases this degradation. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the research presented here was to expand the knowledge on metabolic course and nutritional outcome in patients with severe traumatic brain injury and to analyze the use and accuracy of different methods of assessment. Study I, a systematic review of 30 articles demonstrated consistent data on increased metabolic rate, of catabolism and of upper gastrointestinal intolerance in the majority of the patients during early post injury period.
