    Författare :Anne Andersson; Beatrice Melin; Ulf Näslund; Gunilla Enblad; Harald Holte; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hodgkin; survivorship; long-term side effects; cardiovascular disease; second malignancy; infections; prevention; Oncology; Onkologi; onkologi; Oncology;

    Sammanfattning : Background Long-term side effects associated with the treatment of Hodgkin’s lymphoma (HL) have frequently been reported during the last decades. Studies have shown increased mortality in HL survivors. LÄS MER

    Författare :Erik Björklund; Bertil Lindahl; Lars Wallentin; Ulf Näslund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Acute myocardial infarction; Thrombolysis; Troponin; Electrocardiography; Natriuretic peptide; Prognosis; Prehospital thrombolysis; Treatment delay; Mortality; Registry; Clinical trial; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : We evaluated, in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with thrombolytics, admission Troponin T (tnT), ST-segment resolution and admission N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) for early risk stratification as well as time delays and outcome in real life patients according to prehospital or in-hospital thrombolytic treatment. Also, baseline characteristics, treatments and outcome in patients enrolled in the ASSENT-2 trial in Sweden and in patients not enrolled were evaluated. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Calcified carotid artery atheromas in panoramic radiographs : diagnostic reliability and association to cardiovascular disease, diabetes and periodontitis

    Författare :Nils Gustafsson; Eva Levring Jäghagen; Jan Ahlqvist; Ulf Näslund; Per Wester; Annika Ekestubbe; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Objective: Incidental findings of Calcified Carotid Artery Atheromas (CCAA) on Panoramic Radiographs (PRs) of the jaws can be a risk marker for cardiovascular disease. The objectives for the thesis were to investigate the association between CCAA and 1) Myocardial Infarction (MI), 2) periodontitis, 3) diabetes and 4) estimated cardiovascular risk. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Symptoms and care seeking behaviour during myocardial infarction in patients with diabetes

    Författare :Karin Hellström Ängerud; Christine Brulin; Mats Eliasson; Ulf Näslund; Anna Strömberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; myocardial infarction; diabetes mellitus; symptoms; symptom interpretation; pre-hospital delay; patient delay; decision making; care seeking behaviour; omvårdnadsforskning med medicinsk inriktning; Caring Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Background: In Myocardial infarction (MI) it is well established that timely diagnosis and treatment may reduce mortality and improve the prognosis. Therefore it is important that patients with MI seek medical care as soon as possible. Patients with diabetes have a higher risk for MI and worse prognosis compared to patients without diabetes. 5. 5. Metabolic risk markers and relative survival in patients with aortic stenosis requiring surgery

    Författare :Anders Holmgren; Ulf Näslund; Stefan Söderberg; Michael Henein; Rune Haaverstad; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; aortic stenosis; aortic valve surgery; coronary artery disease; prospective cohort study; risk markers; lipoprotein a ; apolipoproteins; proteomics; troponin T; C-reactive protein; relative survival; observed survival; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Aortic stenosis (AS) is the most common valve disorder requiring surgery in developed countries. The etiology of AS is only partly known.  Identification of new biomarkers in prospective studies could lead to novel insights in the etiology of AS, and possibly lead to improved clinical management.
