  1. 21. Cytokines and their soluble receptors in nasal fluids from school children with allergic rhinitis

    Författare :Mikael Benson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Allergic rhinitis; school children; cytokines; soluble cytokine receptors; nasal fluids;

    Sammanfattning : Allergic inflammation is associated with a shift in the balance between cytokines produced by two T helper subsets (Th1 and Th2) towards a preponderance of Th2 cells. Interleukin (IL)-4 is produced by Th2 cells and interferon-g (IFN-g) by Th1 cells. The ratio IL-4/IFN-g is often used as a marker of the balance between the cytokines. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Experimental and Clinical Studies of SLPI, with Special Reference to IgE-Mediated Allergic Reactions

    Författare :Ulla Westin; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; in situ hybridisation; immunohistochemistry; allergic rhinitis; atopic subjects; IgE-mediated histamine release; mast cell proteases; plasma protease inhibitors; SLPI; human leukocyte proteases; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this study we demonstrated the production of SLPI (Secretory Leukocyte Protease Inhibitor) in serous glands in the nasal mucosa. We have shown that the pattern of the expression of mRNA corresponds to the encoded protein. The encoded protein was detected by immunohistochemical methods and mRNA was discovered by in situ hybridisation. LÄS MER

  3. 23. CC16 in allergy and allergic inflammation

    Författare :Sofi Johansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :CC16; CC10; uteroglobin; Clara cell; allergy; asthma; children; allergen; respiratory syncytial virus; T cell; eosinophil; neutrophil; fMLF; PGD2;

    Sammanfattning : Clara cell 16-kDa (CC16) is an anti-inflammatory protein mainly produced in the lung epithelium by Clara cells. Patients with asthma have lower levels of CC16 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and serum compared with healthy controls. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Nasal and bronchial airway reactivity in allergic and non allergic airway inflammation

    Författare :Karl-Gustav Kölbeck; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Nasal hyperreactivity; airway hyperresponsiveness; Rhinostereometry; organic dust; adhesion molecules; endothelial cells;

    Sammanfattning : In allergic or asthmatic airways disease, upper and lower airways show a uniform eosinophilic inflammation of the mucosa, and bronchial hyperreactivity is a common finding. To study the co- variation of mucosal reactivity in upper and lower airways, histamine challenges of both sites were performed in a group of patients with allergic rhinitis during non-season. 5. 25. Antibody repertoires : Exploration of their role in allergic disease and facilitation of reliable analyses thereof

    Författare :Linnea Thörnqvist; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; allergen; allergic disease; antibody bioinformatics; antibody repertoire; B cells; epitope; immunogloblulin; immunogloblulin germline gene; IgE; specific immunotherapy; stereotyped antibody;

    Sammanfattning : Allergic disease affects millions of individuals worldwide and leads to both impaired life quality of the affected individuals and large economic costs for the society. Allergen-specific antibodies of IgE type act as one of the key players in the disease, by activating effector cells upon binding of its allergen. LÄS MER
